Registrations within off.ai, com.ai, net.ai, and org.ai are available unrestrictedly, worldwide, but don't appear to be getting much use. Currently second level registrations within .ai are only available only to residents of Anguilla or Anguillian corporations and are used to some extent for sites based there, but there was no indication on the official registry site of how to register them. It is expected that this will open up to all in the near future.
There is a $100 USD fee to become a registered user at whois.ai. Domains are $100 for each 2 year period. The order process is mainly manual and requires fax, and address verification, and a waiting period of 3 months after payment to "make sure there is no problem with your credit card".

Q. I know that manual AI and AI-S lenses don't meter on the D40, but is it possible to change the aperture and choose the shutter speed on the camera?

A. Yes; but the camera must be in manual mode for the older lenses. You change aperture by turning the aperture ring, and adjust shutter speed by turning the thumb wheel. The lenses that perform the best on film cameras will also perform best on the D40 and D40x; the later multi-coated versions are generally better than the early versions. Those from the early-mid '70s and later seem to have the best coatings, giving better color saturation and contrast. In case you weren't aware, the D40 and D40x can also use the early pre-AI lenses without a problem, and they're often cheaper than the AI and newer lenses (but didn't have the best coatings). The ones that make the most sense to buy and use on the D40 are the "fast", large aperture lenses… [cont.]
