Is it possible to study architecture if you get a Bachelor's degree in another field first?
Q. I am a senior in college and I plan on attending CSU Humboldt. For a while, I've had no idea what I wanted to do with my life but I suddenly had the idea of being a 'green' architect. If I majored in and received a Bachelor's in Environmental Resource Engineering, would I be able to go to a grad school dedicated to architecture? How does one go about pursuing this career in my situation?

Q. Can you just do the prerequisites (listed in the website) and go to a dental school ? How long does it take to do the prerequisites? I am very confused, please help! Thanks in advance @ Fatty thanks for your answer, but how long does it tale to do those prerequisites and how long does it take to be a dentist?

A. I think those are the prerequisites to get into dental school. Dentistry is a bachelors degree. To legally be able to practice as a dentist, you must be registered with the dental board of you country/state, and to be registered you much have a dentistry degree.

A. No, any degree from a University in the west is good enough. You may have problems if you had obtained it in one of the 3rd world Countries or if you got it online from one of the American online uni's. Anyway Sweden's education system has a good reputation in the rest of the World

What type of Bachelor's degree should I get in order to work and live in Japan?
Q. I am planning on moving to Japan as soon as I get my bachelor's in something. Right now I'm getting an associates for transferring to a four year college. But I'm not sure whether I should be getting an Elementary teaching degree (Bachelor's), or if it really matters as to what my BA is. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

A. What you're talking about is at least 5 years in the future.A lot can change in that time period.A degree in teaching would probably be your best bet as that can also be used in the US. You may want to realize that many people who go to Japan to teach English get burned out after just a year or two. The average monthly pay hasn't changed in years.Teaching English is not likely to be a long term affair. You may want to look beyond the time you'll be teaching English. There are a lot of wannabe teachers now, and the schools can afford to be more picky than they were in the past.So yes, what degree you have can matter.Just keep your future in mind if you discover working in Japan isn't for you.Outside of teaching English & high tech jobs,… [cont.]

What bachelor's degree should I go for if I want to eventually move up to an MBA Finance degree?
Q. Title says it all. I've heard that economics is better to major in and get a bachelor's degree if you want to move up to an MBA Finance degree. Also, an MBA in Finance is better than a regular master's in Finance, right? I know it depends on the school but lets say it's the same school that offers both.
Asked by On My Bro's Account - Sat May 2 18:49:06 2009 - - 1 Answers - 0 Comments

A. My father did an MBA in Finance, as did my husband. My father majored in German, and my husband majored in Economics. The most crucial thing for your MBA in Finance is work experience. Your bachelor's degree isn't terribly important. The best MBA programs don't take fresh grads because they want to see that you can apply yourself in a practical way. Go for whatever degree you like better - and start searching for internships in finance.

Q. I already have bachelor's degree in accounting & worked in accounting field for few months but am tired of it. I am interested in getting another bachelor's degree; this time in computer science but don't know much about it. Is bachelor's degree in computer science enough to get a job as a computer programmer? I live in Southern California. Is it hard to get a programming job now a days? How much do they usually make? What's your back ground?

A. You can definitely get a programmer's job after getting the Bachelor's degree in Computer Science but you will need to have thorough knowledge of and experience in some popular language like PHP, C#.net or Java. It is hard to get any job these days but if you are bright, you can definitely get one. You can also freelance on sites like elance.com and getafreelancer.com while you are waiting to get hired. This will also add to your profile and experience. I am an internet marketing expert and do website development for clients.

Q. I am an Indian planning a Bachelor's degree in nanotechnology in US for the winter09 semester. I am willing to work there part-time. Please let me know if I can earn my tuition fees as well as my living expenses by working there. Also, I heard that the US universities do not allow you to work for an initial period of 6 months. Is this true? If yes, how much will it cost that 6 months period? Please reply!

A. Depends on what school you're going to and what kind of tuition you're paying, but as far as I know, international students have to pay more and in general, US universities have comparatively high tuition already. Of course it also depends on what kind of part-time job you're looking at. If you're picking up just an hourly wage sort of job, it's unlikely you'll be able to pay both living expenses, housing, AND tuition. Your best chance for the cheapest studies is probably to go on some kind of research grant or scholarship from either your home uni or the uni you want to study at in the US. Usually being a TA (teacher's assistant) will either decrease tuition or on-campus housing costs. I don't know about the work visas, but usually… [cont.]

A. You can check into CC in CA.(see site below) I live in IL and our CC do not have dorms. You may have to find your own housing and in CA it is very high priced. At CC you would take your general education classes. Those classes everyone has to take regardless of your major. Then apply and transfer over to a four year college. Why CA? If you want hot, try Arizona, Texas, Florida. For the beach add on all east coast schools. Sorry just don't think CA is all that great. There are lots of different options- the US is huge.

What's the difference between recieving a Bachelor's Degree in Legal Studies and Paralegal Studies?
Q. Can someone with credibility and experience on the subject tell me what exactly is the purpose and difference between recieving a Bachelor's in Legal Studies Degree and a Bachelor's in Paralegal Studies? What kind of information and help can you give someone pursueing these degrees online? Thank you in advance!!!

A. No experience on the subject, other than that I believe the Bachelor's Degree in Paralegal Studies is geared towards becoming a paralegal so I think you get to take specific classes that would help you in the career and the BLS would be general classes (you can't practice law with a BLS). However, I do think each school is different. Some unaccredited law schools have BLS that are conveyed upon the students who eventually get J.D.s.

A. I am in the same situation as you. Here is what I did. Fill out your FASFA form online (www.fafsa.ed.gov). Add all the schools that you intend to attend on your FASFA. Different schools have different deadlines to have your FASFA submitted. The earlier you submit your FASFA the better so that you can meet the deadline for all the schools. You must obey your school's deadline not the federal deadline for your state. The school receives money from the FED and they prepare a financial aid package for all the students that meet their deadline and that are accepted. The student package consist of scholarship, Stafford and Perkin loans. This all depends on your family's expected contribution toward your education. Whatever amount extra that… [cont.]

A. You're going to have a hard time finding salary statistics for designers based on associates vs. bachelors degrees. My guess is probably that a study like that doesn't exist. How much you earn as a designer rests on three things (more or less). 1. how good you are. Talented designers are more in demand, and because of that, they have more bargaining power when it comes to salary and can expect to be paid more. 2. where you work and for whom. Because of the cost of living differences around the country, some areas pay higher salaries. This tends not to matter though because since the cost of living is so high in those areas, it all averages out. Also, who you work for makes a difference. Bigger companies and firms have more resources and… [cont.]

Do I need a bachelor's degree in order to become a dental hygienist?
Q. What is the process after graduating high school?? Do I need to have a 4-year bachelor's degree PRIOR to going to dental hygiene school? Please help!
Asked by Q&A guru - Sat Jan 5 13:05:17 2008 - - 2 Answers - 0 Comments

A. No, a two-year degree in the field suffices. Here's ONE example (state requirements can vary): "What Education/Training Does a Dental Hygienist Need? Dental hygienists receive their education through academic programs at community colleges, technical colleges, dental schools or universities. The majority of community college programs take at least two years to complete, with graduates receiving associate degrees. Receipt of this degree allows a hygienist to take licensure examinations (national and state or regional), become licensed and to work in a dental office. University-based dental hygiene programs may offer baccalaureate and master's degrees, which generally require at least two years of further schooling. These additional degrees… [cont.]

A. Actually, I knew someone who obtained a BA in Creative Writing and got accepted to OTS. She was one of my instructor in Technical School. The Air Force preferably wants folks with a technical degree, but apparently any degree might just do. Of course, my old TS instructor got a job completely unrelated to her degree, but the point is that she got accepted, thus proving that it is possible to commision as an officer with a liberal arts degree. I don't remember what job she got though. . . Btw, my other TS instructor was a retired Major who commisioned with a degree in Finance. Do you know what job he got? Something in Maintenance! In SOME cases you will get a job that in no kind of way will correlate with your degree. It all depends on the… [cont.]

What can one do with a Bachelor's degree in science?
Q. I'm in grade 10 and am planning to earn a bachelor's degree in science. I do plan to upgrade to a masters in Marine or Animal Biology and maybe even a PhD eventually, but until then, what can i do with a Bachelor's, assuming I graduate?

A. . Ya, you can get a Bachelor OF Science degree. YOU have to choose the subject. But you're right to look into a Masters or Doctrate 'cause a B.S. will only get you 'in the door' of a company, at the bottom. And almost any science degree will get you a job. Choose a field/major you like. Marine Biology should be good.
