Is there any kind of Body Armor for troops in Iraq that protects the femoral arteries?
Q. If not why doesnt the military develop a kilt like skirt of body armor that can be easily shed for troops on foot patrol. I bring this up after watching the Juba 15 minute video, seems as though they know they have a low chance for a kill in the chest (body armor and gear), so they go for the thigh where they have a chance of bleeding the enemy to death. Maybe a bell like skirt held on with suspendors so that it can be dropped quickly by pushing it over the shoulders. I dont know all that much about body armor, see if you cant come up with a working version that is light weight enough to provide protection for the artery.

A. Although the intentions are good, wearing a Kevlar helmet, vest, and full 'battle rattle' is enough! I can't imagine having to wear the excess weight of a Kevlar 'kilt' in a combat zone, particularly in a desert climate. I wouldn't...I would imagine it too restrictive during running or over rough terrain/structures/vehicl es, and then there is the issue of having to strap it back on and moving out...too much hassle. As important as my life is, that addition to a uniform would deteriorate performance. I personally feel safer traveling light. That's why I hated traveling in a military vehicle. The more you stand out and the slower you are, the easier of a target you are. Being on foot, does have it's protective draw backs, but I can move… [cont.]
