Bomb disposal is the process by which hazardous explosive devices are rendered safe. Bomb disposal is an all encompassing term to describe the separate, but interrelated functions in the following fields:
- Military A military is an organization authorized by its country to use force, usually including use of weapons, in defending its country by combating actual or perceived threats. As an adjective the term "military" is also used to refer to any property or aspect of a military. Militaries often function as societies within societies, by having:
- Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD)
- Improvised Explosive Device Disposal (IEDD)
- Public safety Public safety involves the prevention of and protection from events that could endanger the safety of the general public from significant danger, injury/harm, or damage, such as crimes or disasters:
- Public Safety Bomb Disposal (PSBD)
- Bomb Squad
