why do hurricanes have caucasian names and some latin names, but no names in other languages?
Q. example:El Nino or El Nina meaning boy/girl or other latin names.is that because spanish is becoming very well-known and accepted as the 2nd common language? is that discrimination against other languages, such as asian languages, etc or should meterologists/weather naming people alternate between different language names/terms and spice it up since the U.S. is very diverse (ex:Category 5 Hurricane = (italian)Mamma Mia! or (french)Le Danger!) or (chinese)Dai-lo*Big Boss*? or should they just all be in english since that is the universal language in the united states? what are your opinions? thanks. A. Hurricanes have been the greatest threat for shipping since humanbeing started cruising, and as you know the Spanish and Portugul sailors were the frontiers and pioneers of navigation, additionally after them the English sailors achived this title, hence it is not amazing that the majotiy of hurricanes have latin or caucasian name becous they were named by the people who used above cited languages to name any new thing.

A. You're right, Caucasian does not always equal what we in the US would call white. Technically, Arabs, Afghans, Persians, and people in nothern India, as well as Europeans are all caucasians. They are all related to Indo-European and Aryan tribes who settled in Europe, the middle east and India. Sometime in history someone started calling lighter skinned caucasians especially ones in Europe "white" and the name just kind of stuck. Yes there is an area in southern Russia called Caucasia and has the Caucus mountians. These people are refered to as "Caucasians" because they are from literally Caucasia. But they are also Caucasians racially, so they have two good reasons to have the name. So basically you can have two people who look very… [cont.]

"New Swedes", do we call them all, but people whose grand parents or parents came from from Africa, do not want to be called "Afro Swedes", because they are born in Sweden and they have never been in Africa or are intending to visit at all. The are just Swedes like you and me and they do not want be related to Africa. Some know less about the continent than we other do. A. I do. Language is a big part of a person's culture because it contains ideas that are specific to that culture. (Alexander Key) It's hard not to laugh at the hippies/new agers who try to steal/borrow/siphon a living off of Native American culture--among others--but in some respects, I think it is because they themselves are lost because they don't have a real culture. The reason for that is, this is not their homeland, it is ours, and most of our cultures are still intact.

Are more hispanics dyslexic than caucasian or african america?
Q. I'm not picking on hispanics, I have a mild form of dyslexia...although I have came to realize that alot of my hispanic friends (more than any other race) are dyslexic. Is this some sort of genetic mishap or is it because the way that we're taught to speak and write and if so would it affect more hispanics because they are having to learn a new language?

A. Alot of learning disabilities are overdiagnosed or mis-diagnosed. Its also societies way of placing a person who is non compliant or out of the ordinary into another "box". They too easily hand out these labels when their is alot else at play... Maybe they're just not interested and bored? Maybe they have emotional difficulties? A lot of these specialists that diagnose these "disorders" dont really know what they're talking about or are looking to write a scrip and make a little money. I think it exists to an extent.

A. If you have the qualifications and can communicate in English, clearly, your race will have no effect at all. In some cases it may be an advantage. In some areas there is an oversupply of teachers, so a permanent position may be hard to get as there are waiting lists. You can Jump forward if you are willing to teach anywhere in the state.

My daughter has picked out her toys at the store and usually favors darker-skinned babies, dolls, etc., even though most people can't see the Asian in her and assume she's Caucasian only (she has light brown hair and light hazel eyes). My mom also taught me to not see color. One of my birthday parties as a kid we took a group picture. Do Italians fall under the category of "Latin" or "White/Caucasian" category?
Q. A. Latin doesn't refer to a race. You can be Latin and be white, black, indigenous, or a mix. Italian people European whites. Many of them, especially in the south, have a darker, olive complexion. Again, Latin is a stupid term used to describe the people of Spanish & Portuguese speaking countries in the Americas. It is NOT a race.

A. Brian, this is done on forms and applications for statistical purposes because some Hispanics have Spanish as a first language and parents who were born elsewhere, making them, well, somewhat culturally different from the rest of us whose parents were born here and speak English. Hispanics can be of Eurasian, African or "New World American" descent (white, black, Asian, Native American). To solve the language barrier, you work from several different angles: 1) You can spend "quality time" with your mom and mom-in-law and while doing so each mom gets to learn a few expressions at a time, such as courtesies (How are you today?) and compliments (That's a lovely outfit) or self descriptions (I love the holidays!). Or, each mom can show the… [cont.]

A. It originates from someone's early theory of division of humans into 4 main racial groups: Caucazoid (white peoples) Negroid (black and dark skinned peoples) Mongoloid (Asian peoples) and Australozoid (apparantly Australia's aboriginals have their own group) Caucasian simply refers to anyone belonging to the Caucazoid family.

What dont you understand about illegal immigrants?
Q. What good are borders or countries when foreigners can enter and occupy cities, speaking their native language, and ignore Americas history, culture, laws and language. If they are having such a hard time in their own country it may be time for them to have a revolution. Fact is no Mexican would allow northern Mexico to be flooded with 95% English speaking Caucasians, having children, incurring education and health fees in the billions, and add an additional 35% to mexicos prisons. As many as 20 million illegal immigrants from Mexico are in America,. That is equal to about 25% of mexicos entire population. Now imagine 25% of Americas population were to illegally cross into Mexico. That would be 75 million illegal Americans in a country… [cont.]

A. The term Caucasian race (also Caucasoid or Europid) has been used to denote the general physical type of some or all of the indigenous populations of Europe, North Africa, the Horn of Africa, West Asia, Central Asia and South Asia. - so it is just a term that some people have chosen to use.
