The Killeen-Temple-Fort Hood Metropolitan Statistical Area is a metropolitan area in Central Texas that covers three counties - Bell Bell County is a county located in the U.S. state of Texas. It is part of the Killeen–Temple–Fort Hood Metropolitan Statistical Area. As of 2000, the population was 237,974 . Its county seat is Belton. The center of population of Texas is located in Bell County, in the town of Holland . Bell is named for Peter Hansborough Bell, the third, Coryell Coryell County is located in the U.S. state of Texas. In 2000, its population was 74,978. The seat of the county is Gatesville. Coryell County forms part of the Killeen–Temple–Fort Hood Metropolitan Statistical Area. It is named for James Coryell, a frontiersman who was killed by Indians, and Lampasas Lampasas County is a county located in the U.S. state of Texas. In 2000, its population was 17,762. Its seat is Lampasas. The county is named for the Lampasas River. As of the 2000 census The Twenty-Second United States Census, known as Census 2000 and conducted by the Census Bureau, determined the resident population of the United States on April 1, 2000, to be 281,421,906, an increase of 13.2% over the 248,709,873 persons enumerated during the 1990 Census. This was the twenty-second federal census and the largest single civil, the MSA had a population of 330,714 (though a July 1, 2008 estimate placed the population at 378,935).[1]
In a reference to the Dallas-Fort Worth Metroplex The Dallas–Fort Worth–Arlington metropolitan area, a title designated by the U.S. Census as of 2003, encompasses 12 counties within the U.S. state of Texas. The metropolitan area is further divided into two metropolitan divisions: Dallas–Plano–Irving and Fort Worth–Arlington. Residents of the area informally refer to it as the Dallas/ in North Texas, locals sometimes refer to this area as the Centroplex.
