It stretches from Limehouse Basin in the west to the edge of the former Chinatown The name Chinatown has been used at different times to describe different places in London. The city's present Chinatown is in the Soho area of the City of Westminster, occupying the area in and around Gerrard Street. It contains a number of Chinese restaurants, bakeries, supermarkets, souvenir shops, and other Chinese-run businesses in Pennyfields in the east; and from the Thames in the south to the Victory Bridge at the junction of Ben Jonson Road and Rhodeswell Road in the north.

The area gives its name to Limehouse Reach, a section of the Thames which runs from Shadwell Shadwell is an inner-city district situated within the London Borough of Tower Hamlets located on the north bank of the Thames between Wapping to the south and Limehouse to the east. It is located 3 miles east of Charing Cross and forms part of the East End of London, through Ratcliff and then Limehouse and on to Millwall.
