What do babies born in winter wear for outdoors and indoors?
Q. I am due in Jan, 2009. I am wondering what kind of clothes are warm enough for babies indoors and outdoors. Will the onesies do for indoors, or does the baby need more? Should the baby be dressed in multiple layers for outdoors. How much will be too warm for the baby? Thanks!

A. My daughter (December baby) mostly wore sleepers indoors. But go by the temperature of your house. If you keep it warm, she may well be comfortable in a onesie. For outside, remember that you can't have a lot of thick clothing in the carseat, so layers are good idea. A warm bunting for outside, and a lighter/thinner jacket for the carseat.

Where is a place besides outdoors to trow a B-day party?

A. Don't know if they have this where your from but in San Diego they have indoor inflatable parks. they rent them out for Bdays. Or you could rent out a church hall or recreation center room. Ice skating rinks are nice for kids bdays they have package deals with cake, pizza and skate rentals. some times it even comes with a group lesson.

How do you paint a car outdoors in pretty cold temperatures?
Q. I have a sh*tbox that really needs to be painted before I can drive it around. Unfortunately, it is 14 degrees Fahrenheit outdoors and I am afraid that a special technique is in order. I am not particularly concerned with how it looks, I just want the car to be a uniform color. Any wisdom?

A. You should never paint a vehicle outdoors ( no matter what the temperature is... ) The reasons behind that are both for environmental reasons as well as dust and other debris being blown against the wet paint and sticking to it as it dries.

What type of paper holds up well outdoors?
Q. Or would I have to weather-proof the paper in some way? If so, what would I need? I have some origami and other paper projects that I would like to leave outdoors if possible. But if not, I can always bring them back in during bad weather. Thank you for your time.
Asked by artistguy - Sun May 4 00:13:54 2008 - - 3 Answers - 0 Comments
A. If you use some type of sealer ... polyurethane or varnish, etc. ... even a clear spray-paint ... that would at least help to make your projects somewhat waterproof. But, keep in mind that, even if sealed, the color in the paper will fade if exposed to sunlight. I had a couple of painted chairs (that I had decorated using scrapbooking paper and decoupage medium, then varnish). They sat on my front porch (in total shade) over the course of a summer ... and even indirect sunlight caused them to fade noticeably within a few months.

Q. I'm organizing a little outdoor event and I wanted to bring my computer speakers with me for music (they're pretty good speakers). Problem is I can't really plug it in anywhere since I'll be outdoors the whole time. Is there a cheap energy source I could use to plug my speakers into?

A. Will you be close to your car or another vehicle? There are 12VDC\120VAC inverters that sell for as little as $20. They can supply about 75 watts of power; this should be enough for your computer speakers. For a few $$ more you can get one that will supply 120 watts. Check the nameplate on your speakers for their 110Vac input power requirements. I bought one at Sears. It plugs into the cigarette lighter. You can use a regular 100 ft garden extension cord to get the 110V from the inverter to your amplifiers. They also sell these at Walmart, Target, and just about any auto parts store. As long as you aren't going to use it for more that a couple of hours, it will not seriously drain your car battery. Some cigarette light plugs will… [cont.]

A. Social Work, Teaching, Social pedagogy, Nursery, etc I think there are several majors which combine children and outdoor. For instance, being a social worker in a public regional countryside club for children and teenagers is an amazing choice - especially in a developing country (Peru, Ghana and so forth). You can plan and implement many outdoor activities. You can do whatever you like and in parallel you can contribute to their present and future well being. Good Luck!!! Kind Regards from Greece.

A. Avocados - to the best of my knowledge - need warmth, HATE cold/frost/snow/sleet, and don't like to be either too wet or too dry. So if you have any climatary factors that would prohibit growth, that would be the biggest deciding factor. Read more here: Also, be aware that seed-grown avocados don't always bear fruit, as they need to be cross-pollinated from a fruit-bearing tree in your area (of similar variety), or otherwise professionally grafted which can be costly and not guaranteed.

Can I raise a bird to live outdoors around my apartments?
Q. I live in apartments that don't allow pets and I move around in rural areas. Can I train a bird to live outdoors around whever I'm living at the time? That way I'd have the companionship of a pet, without having to rent an entire house. It would have to be a bird that can handle the cold because it gets below freezing at night in the winter.
Asked by Jeremy H - Mon Oct 22 01:13:49 2007 - - 4 Answers - 0 Comments
A. No. This doesn't sound like an ideal situation for a bird. You would have to keep it caged. If it's outside anyone could come up and do anything to it. Can you maybe get a rodent that could live indoors? Please don't get a bird, if it didn't freeze to death it would get stolen or killed. Hope this helps.

How to keep a dark blue car that's parked outdoors shiny?
Q. My car is a solid (non metallic) midnight blue color and it has to be parked outdoors. The color oxidizes fairly quickly. I polish it in the fall but come summer the paint will turn chalky again. Is there anything that will really protect the paint? I've been using Menzerna FP2 and glaze. Wax will definitely fade fast outdoors. Are sealants any good?
Asked by DS - Sun Nov 22 23:56:58 2009 - - 5 Answers - 0 Comments
A. Wash, clay bar, wax. Maybe go over it with a little quick detailer when it starts to look bad and see if that clears it up. If not, you're probably going to need to wax often. I know my Mustang sits outdoors and I wash it weekly but it's a PITA to keep it clean since it's exposed to the elements at all times.

Possible to grow vegetable plants in Cape Coral, Florida outdoors?
Q. I used to live up North on east coast. So I don't know much about sw Florida. Can veggie plants be grown sucessfully outdoors (say like in Cape Coral or St. James City), or should they be done in large pots and kept by windows under shelter? Would too many "bugs" or the bad winds or downpours destroy the veggie plants if they were done outdoors? I don't want to look like an idiot doing vegetable plants outdoors around here if it really is'nt possible to keep them alive well out there or keep them from getting broken. Vegetables like: big beef tomatoes, big bell peppers, yellow squash and eggplant.

What is a good gift for an older man who loves the outdoors?
Q. What can I get my grandpa for Christmas? He used to like to hunt when he was younger but now he has trouble getting out of the house. He still likes to read outdoor magazines but he has plenty subscriptions already. On warmer days he tries to get out of the house and it does him a lot of good. It just seems to be harder for him. Do you have any ideas for a older man (he's 84) who likes the outdoors but has trouble walking. I am on a very tight budget. Oh yeah we live in the north if that helps any.

What material can I use to wrap a flower pot for use outdoors? The material has to be waterproof.?
Q. I have a brown flower pot, but want it green so the I can decorate it with red trimmings for Christmas. I need the material to be waterproof as the pot will be used outdoors on the porch. What kind of material should I use and where can I purchase it?

A. The kind of foil that florists use might work. It comes in many colours. If you can't find a floral supply place, you might try asking a florist shop if they will sell you a piece. Sometimes it comes with a plastic backing on it, but if you can't find that then you could wrap the pot in a plastic bag first.
