A. dont know if this is true or not, but i have heard over the years that there was a fire in a south street home once many yrs ago and legend has it that alittle girl who had died in that fire can be seen in her window. might wanna follow up on that and try getting facts or try the library for old reports.

Q. Does anyone know where I can find archives of a newpaper from Port Hope Ontario called the Guide? I am looking for a copy of an article printed in 1962. Not 100% sure that the name of the paper is correct.

A. The public library in Port Hope should have it on microfilm. If you can't visit, send them a small donation and a stamped,self-addresed envelope. You'll have to know the exact date, unless you do the work yourself. No one will wade through a year's worth of microfilm as a favor to a stranger.

A. Every once in a while a dedicated, selfless volunteer will transcribe a city directory for a city. They generally do it for the US Gen Web or its Canadian equivalent, Canada GenWeb, and upload it to the county site. CGW starts at: I'd estimate your chances at one in 10,000. You can send the library a small ($5) donation, a stamped, self-addressed envelope and a request for a spcific lookup. You could post a request on a county-level query board, too.
