Transport and the economy of Ireland-History?
Q. im learning about william dargan and thomas telford and all and i have 2 questions i need help with.. what developments in ireland would support the decision to extend the transport links with england? and.. why do you think the first rail link was from dublin to dun laoghaire? Please help.. thanks in advance

A. I'm not an historian or anything but I would think that the improvement of the links between Dublin - Holyhead - London when those guys were alive was probably because Dublin was the second city of the British Empire at the time. Dublin and Ireland in general was going through a relatively wealthy and influential period (just look at the entire redevelopment of Dublin in Georgian style at the time) so I imagine there was money to be made by increasing possible trade connections. I would also think that the act of union would also increase the need for better connections between London and Dublin seeing as lords and lawmakers would need to travel regularly.
