A. Arthur Zimmermann. He was the German Foreign Minister. In 1917, the British intercepted a encrypted correspondence from Zimmerman to the Minister to Mexico. He offered the Mexicans American territory in exchange for them joining the German's cause in WWI. Before this letter, Americans were pacifist and for the most part neutral in the War, but upon hearing about this letters, Americans changed their opinions and wanted to enter the war. There is some debate as to whether or not the letter was authentic or invented by the British in order to get Americas help in their war effort. A little simplistic, but that's the gist of it.

What's an interesting way to organize United States History units?
Q. I'm taking a class on Instructional Design and while we have a U.S. History textbook to aid us in our project we cannot use the units directly from the book. The teacher wants us to "think outside of the box." I cannot come up with any other way to organize it other than chronological. Any ideas for how to divide and organize U.S History units would be appreciated.

A. How about geographically? You do one unit each on the north, south, east and west. Show how each area developed from being settled through the present.

A. Last year, I used Barron's review guide for AP US History. It was really helpful, and totally worth the money, since it had summaries, timelines, practice tests, and a lot more. I'm planning to use Barron's AP chem review book this spring, and I also bought the flashcards that go with the book. I haven't really looked at them yet, but I think they'll be good. There are a lot of other publishers for the various books. I know that Kaplan makes AP review books, and I'm pretty sure that College Board does the same thing. Good luck!

I know trying to be specific on what history to teach on and trying to find a job for it will be hard, but what should I major in to become a US history teacher. What could be a possibility to start out in at a community college?
Asked by John P - Tue Nov 17 06:32:07 2009 - - 3 Answers - 0 Comments
A. If you're looking to become a teacher in most states, you will need a Bachelors degree, which you cannot get at a community college. If you're starting out at a community college, just take general education classes until you can transfer to a four-year university. If you are absolutely positive you want to teach U.S. history, I would find a college that has an American Studies major. There are quite a few of them nowadays. Some colleges might also have a History major with a U.S. History emphasis, which would enable you to take more U.S. history classes over World/European history.

What are examples of bad government in United States history?
Q. What are some events in which the government was considered injustice? Explain what happened, when, where, who was involved and why it was considered injustice.
Asked by hc2320 - Thu Apr 17 23:54:43 2008 - - 8 Answers - 0 Comments
A. Just about every thing that has happened in the last 24 years. With particular note to the big energy company super-mergers like Exxon-Mobile, Shell-BP, etc. That is the reason the cost of fuel is so high. And, most all that happened on the Billary Clinton administration, and by the way, he was impeached. So then can we expect more of the same on his third term as Hillary? Probably so. DeJavu all over again and again.
