What are some good ways of advertising an online art contest?
Q. We will be running several online art contests leading up to Christmas and would like to get the word out about them and the "This is Art" web site. We will be advertising the web site in Australia's Art Almanac but it would probably not be enough. Maybe we should resort to sending Art Groups invitations? Does anyone know about good ways of advertising art competitions with a tight budget?

What should the advertising company conclude at the 5% level of significance?
Q. An advertising company wants to determine if the cartoons series Voltes V, appeals to male viewers more than to female viewers. Based on random telephone interviews,it was found that 23 out of 48 males and 41 out of 90 females watch the series regularly. What should the advertising company conclude at the 5% level of significance?

A. For this problem we will use the Chi-squared distribution. We would expent the percentages to be equal ie 0.4637 each, thus we would expect 22.26 males and 41.74 females to watch the program, we use this to calculate the Test statistic D^2 D^2 = SUM((Expected - observed)^2 / Expected) = (22.26 - 23)^2/22.26 + (41.74 - 41)^2/41.74 =0.0246 + 0.0131 =0.0377 The Chi-Squared value for 1 degree of freedom at the 5% significance level is 3.841, thus 0.0377 is not larger than 3.841, thus we can conclude that gender has no effect on the viewership.

How does an advertising online business work?

A. There's publishers and then there's advertisers. They both meet at the online advertising website. If I'm an advertiser I'll go to them with the content of my ad and pay them money to place that ad. If I'm a publisher I'll go there to place ads on my own website, taking a percentage of the money. Google is the biggest advertiser. They take 99.999% of the money. Others will offer 10%+, depending on the popularity of the website.

What kind of advertising can I do for my college area restaurant?
Q. I own a little restaurant in the college area of San Diego. I'm wondering if you can give me any tips for advertising my sandwich shop to the college students. Print advertising? Online Advertising? How much does it cost? Can you also give any ideas on special events or promotions to get customers in? Thanks!

A. In addition to the suggestions from the previous person, if I were you I would look into the nearby college newspaper and find out their rates for advertising in print and on the website. Contacting someone in the sports or student activities departments of the college to find out about possible sponsorship opportunities (this will probably cost more than advertising in the campus newspaper). Word of mouth and flyers are probably going to be the cheapest way to get your name out there. You can hire students to hand out flyers on campus. Where I went to college (University of New Mexico) there was always a guy handing out flyers in a funny outfit, everyone laughed but they were one of the most popular lunch places in the area. Good luck!

Making money from advertising on your web page: How does it work exactly?
Q. When you own a website , how does the whole advertising thing work? For example, if i started a website that eventualy got tens of millions of hits a month, how would i get companies to advertise on my site? Would i approach them ? Would they approach me? Would they supply me the advertising banners? What sort of money is offered for advertising space? Basically: How does it all work ? If anyone could give me some feedback on it , i'd be most appreciative. Thanks !

A. There are several ways you can earn money from advertising: 1. Join an advertising network. Advertising networks are organizations that aggregate Web sites that offer advertising space, and sell banner ads (and other advertising options) across them. Traffic requirement is often a minimum of 5,000 monthly impressions, although many do not accept sites hosted by free page services. Burst Media Fastclick (Value Click). Advertising.com. Tribal Fusion 2. Participate in contextual advertising networks. Contextual advertising are text ads delivered based on the content of the web page using an automated system. Google Adsense https://www.google.com/adsense/ Yahoo! Publishing Network (currently in beta and available to US publishers only)… [cont.]

A. For the most part, ad agencies are not going out of business. They are, however, rapidly changing with new technology and going away from the traditional points of reaching their markets. With recent advances in rotating electronic billboards, media-based cell phones (or on-the-go processors i.e. netbooks/ i Pads), social networking sites, and several advances that will be made in the near future, advertising budgets are actually growing to meet the current demands in "new media" over the last couple of years (despite the recession) and will grow even more soon, but they are cutting back heavily on allocated expenditures on traditional TV commercial advertising, stand-alone magazine ads, and the "old" way of creating… [cont.]

How much should the company spend on advertising to obtain a maximum profit?
Q. The profit "p" (in hundreds $) that a company makes depends on the amount x(in hundreds of $)the company spends on advertising according to the model, p=230+20x-0.5x^2. How much should the company spend on advertising to obtain a maximum profit?
Asked by spazattack99 - Mon Oct 3 19:50:07 2011 - Mathematics - 2 Answers - Comments
A. p = -0.5x2 +20x + 230 This equation would graph as a parabola opening downward. The maximum profit occurs at the vertex. The x-coordinate of the vertex is x=-b/(2a) Thus, the maximum will occur at x = -20/(2*-0.5) = -20/-1 = 20 (hundred $) or $2000 To help you remember the x=-b/(2a), remember this is part of the quadratic formula. If you move from the vertex an equal distance to the right or left, you will hit the x-axis (the zeros of the equation in question). What you are adding to this in the quadratic formula is sqrt(b2-4ac)/(2a) - which is the zero that is to the right of the vertex. You are subtracting the same thing as well (the formula calls for ), which would be the zero the the left of the vertex.

If thats sorted, you need to look up "free advertising". Most advertising sites on the net have a spot fro free ads, and you should do up to 20 different sites a day. I am suprised your trainer hasn't given you a list. Don't spam a site though, this will get you banned. create a small ad that states in simple terms what you are offering. Do NOT overdo it, or make it too good to be true. When you go to each different site just copy and paste the same ad in each site. How do you start out in an advertising career?
Q. I have a student who is serious about getting into advertising - he has a degree but would go back to school to study if need be. What kind of trainings should he look for, or in what area of advertising is it easiest to break into?
Asked by nomadic - Thu Mar 22 15:37:42 2007 - Financial Services - 1 Answers - Comments
A. If your student wants to break into the creative side of advertising, tell him that he should go to a "portfolio school." He'll be able to refine his creative skills and leave with a "book" that will be his resume to get a creative job at an advertising agency or at an in-house advertising department. If he wants to break into account management or media, then I would suggest he start in advertising sales. Tell him to start at a newspaper or radio station, or anywhere selling advertisements. Eventually he is going to make contacts that will get him into an advertising agency if he wants to, or maybe he'd like staying in sales. Wish him good luck for me!

He'll be able to refine his creative skills and leave with a "book" that will be his resume to get a creative job at an advertising agency or at an in-house advertising department.

What is the best advertising strategy for my blog?
Q. My blog gets 300-500 page views a day and it's shown healthy organic growth since its launch. I wanted to get established before starting to look at advertising. What are the different options besides Google Adsense?

How should I begin advertising my commercial janitorial, residental? What do I charge, any one know?
Q. I just opened a new janitorial business for residential and commercial. I need to find out how much to charge and the best way to open up in my area and local communitys. I want to stick with either free or really affordable advertising ideas. Anyone out there know?

A. Start by figuring out how long it will take you to clean a 1000 square foot area. Then figure out how much it will cost for chemicals equipment transportation insurance and everything involved. Once you know that you have a baseline to figure out how much it's going to cost to do various sized areas. For advertising you can try craigslist or just mail a letter to various businesses. Visiting businesses in person to let them know who you are and what you do is the best way to get them comfortable with who you are.

How does online advertising work? Can someone point me to an article describing the process?
Q. What I want to know is how advertising content is placed onto a server and how that content is delivered from the server to me, the person viewing it. Someone must have written about this somewhere!

A. there are so many ways to advertise online. The most popular is through google your yahoo. Google is called adwords (do a google search and you will get tons of info on it) and yahoo is I think just yahoo advertising. You create an ad, and link to a website and pay per click. They have special code you can install to find where the click came from, what pages they visited and if they bought from clicking that ad. There are tons of articles on it out there, just go to google adwords and check out what they have there and they have all the info you will never need and pretty much the same applies for most others. You also have cost per impressions (which is how many times the ad is viewed, not clicked, cost per acquisition, which is only pay… [cont.]
