A. I remember this poem from a long time ago. I think, it is in the same way of Robin Hood and Maid Marian. He took money from the rich, greedy men of the area that cared nothing about the poor and made their fortunes by taking away the little that the poor had, and shared it with the poor. The woman at the inn loved him, knew his good side, and was willing to give her life to save him. He ran away, safe to continue his "work" for the poor, not knowing that the woman he loved sacrificed the only thing she had - her life - to keep him safe and able to fight the evil rich men, who I am sure also were "using" her the way they wanted at the inn. In the same way Bonnie and Clyde were folk heros, who robbed the banks that were… [cont.]

Q. My boyfriend is considering a debt consolidation loan from Fair Gate Financial. The information he has says they are out of Alfred, ME. I haven't been able to find much on them and was hoping anyone would be able to tell me more about them, has anyone gotten a loan through this company? Is it a scam?

A. I think it's a scam. I was approved for a 5000.00 dollar loan. Sent them 800.00 dollars, and my loan was supposed to be deposited in my bank in 24 hours later. I called when it was not there and was told I would have to send them another 1000.00 dollars. I was not told this upfront.I don't have the 1000.00 dollars, plus they will not return my 800.00 dollars. i would not use this company at all!! they will steal your money. They make it sound good and easy and will help you out untill you send them your money, then they will not help you.

A. in the early 1900s two scientists, the American F.B. Taylor and the German Alfred Wegener, put forward a theory called Continental Drift. they pointed out similarities between the shapes of the continents on opposite sides of the Atlantic and suggested that North America had once been joined to Europe and South America to Africa. but somehow they had broken apart and drifted to their present positions. similar rocks, rock structures and fossils were found on both sides of the Atlantic Ocean. one fossil plant, called glossopteris flourished in the Carboniferous and Permian periods. fossils of this plant were found in India and in all southern continents. but glossopteris had heavy seeds which winds could not have blown far. how then did… [cont.]

A. The Mc Guffin. This was his term for making the movie suspenseful. He said that if you have an explosion, you scare the audience for a moment. If you build up to it, then they squirm for longer. Yopu let the audience see the bomb under a chair. the hero sits in that chair and it looks like he is not going to leave it. he makes a few fake out to leave it, but he gets right back in the chair. the timer gets less and less time on it. It isn't until the last, very last, moment, that he escapes destruction. That's quality film-making

Would you say that Alfred Kinsey portrayed Americans as more sexually active than believed, or promiscuous?
Q. I am trying to answer a history m/c question: The sexual studies of Alfred C. Kinsey portrayed Americans as: A) puritanical B) accepting homosexuality C) more sexually active than usually believed D) sexually promiscuous I have eliminated A. I am choosing between C and D. I've looked at online sources but I'm still stuck.
Asked by James - Sat Feb 6 18:18:18 2010 - Sociology - 1 Answers - 1 Comments

A. I would say C because Kinsey really wasn't "portraying" anything he was just studying it. What he ended up finding was that people masturbate often and engage in sexual activity often. In his time sex was of course taboo, there wasn't even sex education. What his studies helped us to do was to realize that no matter how much that you try to restrict people from having sex, they will still do it anyway, and it is more dangerous to not know about sex. So his studies proved that people are normal and they do like sex, even women and well known men. People are just very good at hiding their freaky side because for some reason we think it's bad.

How did Alfred Wegner Support his claim of continental drift?
Q. Alfred wegner claimed that continental drift. What facts did he use to support his theory?
Asked by PickleDude1234 - Mon Apr 12 21:02:13 2010 - Earth Sciences & Geology - 1 Answers - Comments

A. In short, he used how it appeared Africa and South America used to fit together and how North America and Europe appeared to fit together, like a puzzle. There were some fauna fossils found only in South America, Africa and Austrailia, to further support that the continents used to be near/connected to eachother. The only problem was that Wegner didn't have a driving mechanism to show how they separated. At that time, no one knew of mantle convection, which would later become the driving force.

A. I honestly think the score for "Psycho" is one of the best scores in movie history. The choice to go with mostly strings for this cheapened, horrific masterpiece fit well into the authentic B-movie-type suspense that the film carries today. Note: Bernard Herrmann ("Vertigo", "North by Northwest") did the score, not Hitchcock.

How does what Obama accomplished in February warrant the award based on Alfred Nobel's own stipulation?
Q. In his 1895 will, Alfred Nobel stipulated that the peace prize should go "to the person who shall have done the most or the best work for fraternity between the nations and the abolition or reduction of standing armies and the formation and spreading of peace congresses." AP Hector Frodo: what does a poll in July have to do with what he did by the February nomination deadline. Nobody has been able to provide what he had accomplished by February.

What does Alfred say when the subject of Batman comes up?
Q. I've seen Bruce Wayne be teasing when someone mentions Batman's name but I don't think I've ever seen how Alfred expresses his opinion to a stranger when the subject comes up. I suppose it's because he's a butler and is suppose to have little to say, but I'm still curious. Does anyone know how he'd respond?
Asked by Rain - Tue Feb 23 00:36:50 2010 - Comics & Animation - 4 Answers - Comments

A. Depends on what interpretation we're talking about (the movies, the animated show, the comics, etc.), but as a general rule, I doubt Alfred would react very strongly. It's unlikely that anyone would associate Bruce Wayne with Batman to begin with, but if the topic of Batman were to come up in a casual conversation directly with Alfred, he'd probably blow it off and not say too much on the subject. Of course, if it were at a party or something, Alfred would likely be working, so he probably wouldn't say anything at all.

Is it legal to watch Alfred Hitchcock films online for free?
Q. A friend of mine and I want to have an Alfred Hitchcock film marathon. There are a number of Hitchcock films on Netflix which we intend to watch, but Psycho and Vertigo, the two I want to see most, aren't. Is it legal to watch Alfred Hitchcock films online for free since they're 60-80 years old and possibly public domain, or are they still copyrighted? Thanks :)
Asked by Cecilia Barnas - Tue Sep 6 20:51:27 2011 - Movies - 2 Answers - Comments

A. They're still under copyright, since it lasts around 100+ years, so it wouldn't be legal to watch them for free. Current copyright is the lifetime of the creator plus 90+ years - it might be 93 or 97 tears, I forget which, but Hitchcock is certainly not neat public domain yet.
