What does quitting birth control in the middle of a pack do?
Q. My sister started taking birth control and about 2 weeks in, she stopped because they were giving her headaches and causing her moodiness. As it is probably expected, she had a period within 2 days of quitting. Then she had another period in 2 weeks. Will her body naturally reset itself? Or did using birth control mess something up? She doesn't have health insurance so visiting a doctor is the last option for her.

A. There's nothing wrong with stopping birth control in the middle of the pack, but may take up to six months for her cycle to become regular again. For most women, it doesn't take that long though.

What is the difference between a live birth certificate and a birth certificate?
Q. Is there a difference between a live birth certificate and a birth certificate? I received a copy of a live birth cerfiticate from the maryland state of vital records, I need my sons birth cerfiticate to register him for school. I am wondering if theres a difference and if his school will take his live birth certificate?

A. I don't know. It may simply be a matter of what states choose to call it. I'd never heard the term "live birth certificate" until recently.

What birth control best makes your boobs grow?
Q. Im an A cup now and have been thinking about going on birth control for shorter periods and hopefully getting bigger breast, but no weight gain. Can you list me some good birth control?

A. You should seriously AVOID drugs of ANY kind... the cumulative, long term damage is shown in the many ills of our modern society. Also... Big breasts are not as attractive as they once were. They are now being associated with fake breasted insecure/materialistic women, and also with the personalities that often go with larger breasted women: ego, manipulativeness, entitlement, etc. I myself am exclusively attracted to women with smaller breasts as they tend to be more the type of personality that I go for. I say you are super sexy just the way you are. Concentrate on being more HEALTHY, and FIT, and less the fake societal image of false perfection. good luck -Internal Shock

How effective are condoms and birth control used together at preventing pregnancies?
Q. Doing a project on birth controls, their effectiveness and effects on the body and no where can seem to really give me a specific answer. How do birth control pills effect a woman's body? How long until the effects start to take place? What are the percentages of a condom and a birth control pill not working at preventing a pregnancy? What is the safest form of birth control (I know someone is going to say "not having sex, bwahaha" so please don't) and what is the most effective? Thanks so much!

A. Natural Family Planning is just as effective as birth control pills and completely safe if you are breast feeding. Also, you don't have to worry about other side effects of birth control pills like blood clots. Good luck!

What birth control should I ask for that clears breakouts?
Q. Okay so I am going to the doctor to go on birth control because my periods are all messed up, plus I break out a lot during my period which I definitely want to do away with. Normally I have mild acne; a pimple here or there but before my period it's HORRIBLE. Anyway I was wondering what birth control I should ask for that definitely gets rid of acne? Please & Thanks!

A. I've struggled with terrible acne since I was 13 (now 19). I had tried every prescription drug there was, including Acutane. And finally got desperate enough to try Proactiv (huge waste of money) and Clean and Clear advanced. My OB/GYN put me on Yaz. I haven't had acne since. Completly cleared my complexion. I don't think this is the case for every person, but I know it definitely helped me.

How does getting birth control pill at Planned Parenthood work?
Q. I'm 18 and I'd like to get birth control pills at planned parenthood. What is the cost without insurance? What are the necessary steps to get this birth control?
Asked by - Sun Nov 28 23:39:23 2010 - Women's Health - 1 Answers - Comments
A. Im 18 too. At my planned parenthood you fill out a paper that is in the waiting room and you give it to the lady at the desk. They do pricing based on your income. So if you make close to nothing it will cost nothing.(you need proof of income) You can sign up for insurance, they usually will ask you. Then they take you to a room and give you information about each type of birth control and then you choose.

How would a Birth Defect be seen during the Salem witch trials?
Q. I am writing a fictional story set during or around 1692, I have not officially decided yet, and writing about a girl with a birth defect. I was thinking she could be born with a birth defect effecting her leg or arm and because of this she is ignored and shunned by her fellow neighbors. My question is how would people look upon a newborn with a birth defect? I wanted to add that I am not officially sure WHAT the Birth Defect is, but she is born with some type of defect or something to make her shunned by her neighbors.
Asked by Eleise - Tue Feb 16 18:26:37 2010 - History - 3 Answers - Comments
A. Not well, a birth defect was viewed in one of two ways - either as the punishment of God on the parents or the mother was frightened or in some other way was scarred during the pregnancy. A defective child would have been held up as evidence of the strength of God to affect and inflict punishment on humans. They weren't a very sympathetic people. Websites with further info: The results of an Amazon search on the subject: I'd avoid the children's books:

Q. I am planning on breastfeeding and I am wondering what do you do for birth control. I am not willing to test out the breastfeeding for birth control and I don't feel like it is safe enough and it doesn't work for everyone but I have read that hormonal birth control can dry up your milk. A. Here are some of your options. *Depo Provera (progestin only shot) *IUD such as Paraguard or Mirena *Mini-Pill or Progestin only pill *Barrier Methods such as condoms *LAM (Lactational Amenorrhea Method) I personally used Depo after the birth of my children, and it worked well for us. It did not decrease my milk supply at all. I have heard mixed reviews on IUDs. Some friends have raved about how great they were but others absolutely hated them. The mini-pill must be taken daily at the same time, and I know quite a few mothers who forgot to take them in the first few months. Condoms are an obvious answer, and LAM is generally only effective if you are exclusively breastfeeding and usually only for the first 6 months. In the end, you… [cont.]

What does birth control do to a pregnancy?
Q. I've always wondered what effects birth control has on an expecting mother and baby. If a woman didn't know she was pregnant and stayed on birth control, would it terminate her pregnancy or just give the baby birth defects? I'm wondering, because I learned that the germinal period (time where the baby is most vulnerable) is from 2-8 weeks. So will it harm the baby if she didn't know?
Asked by *Dixie* - Wed Dec 9 13:10:36 2009 - Pregnancy - 6 Answers - Comments
A. There is no evidence of harm to the developing embryo is a woman takes birth control pills during the first few weeks of pregnancy. It does not cause birth defects or miscarriages. (Obviously most women who get pregnant on the pill DON'T know it for the first few weeks, and so will continue to take the pill.) Of course once a woman does determine that she's pregnant, she should stop taking her pills.
