How do you describe Palestine under Caliphate rule?
Q. Did they murder Jews and Christians? Did Jews and Christians face any discrimination?
Asked by Jim - Tue Apr 20 01:05:09 2010 - - 4 Answers - 0 Comments

A. @roan, nice try but that edict was dropped immediately after his death, it was only enforced for a handful of years. So I guess Muslims saving thousands of Jews from Christians persecutions like the Inquisition and various pogroms means nothing? Are you forgetting that Jews were forbidden by law to live in most of Europe or forced to live in ghettos? Jews were forbidden by Byzantium to live in Palestine, Muslims changed that. Byzantium rule was harsh and most of Palestine gave up without a struggle. Jews and Christians were guaranteed access to holy sites (many with Muslim superintendents no less!). Jew and Christian enjoyed property rites and protection as people of the book. They were taxed as non-Muslims (dhimmi), but no where near as… [cont.]

Q. What is meant by islamic caliphate project by European Union?
Asked by sathish r - Mon Aug 31 09:55:28 2009 - - 5 Answers - 0 Comments

A. You question is confusing? What excactly are you asking? European Union has no such project in mind as an "Islamic Caliphate". In fact, Islamic Caliphate is probably one of their biggest fears.. Caliphate is the system of government by sticking to principles of Islam. Its a system that aims to unify all muslim lands under one country. The movement for such a change is picking up support as time goes by. The biggest obstacle's to that being achieved are the different dictators in the muslim world, that are supported by the west. European Union does however have a "Islamic engagment project", which seeks to get the European muslims, alter their relegion, so that they end up with a hybrid European Islam. They want muslims to compromise… [cont.]

Are there any governmental documents of first 200 years caliphate?
Q. At those times, the Islamic expansion was swift. It must be a lot of governmental works to manage such caliphate, and there must be a lot of records/documents created in running such huge caliphate. Are there any such documents exist today? How they manage education? Irrigation for farms? Trading? Social welfare? Etc?
Asked by Mak Dengkek - Fri Mar 21 08:42:18 2008 - - 1 Answers - 0 Comments

A. The idea of documentation and records is more modern than you may think. People have gotten the notion that certain things are necessary, when they are just aids. When you're dealing with a hierarchal authoritarian state (like a caliphate) you are dealing with a strong central leader and a network of lower leaders under that person. They don't have to have documentation to make things work when people can just give direct commands and expect them to be done. Governments like that didn't really even need a codified system to work with, they just did what they wanted. Probably the only real form of government documentation that would be able to be found would be the letters sent back and forth between those in charge of the government, or… [cont.]

I used to be catholic- and the Catholics believe and preach they are superiors!!! And that you CANNOT talk to God if not through a priest!!! who is also human and not infalible.. so who's preaching superiority?? when I was growing up in a catholic country and catholic school I was told that the jews killed Jesus, and that the Catholic was the only way!! why and how did the Umayyad Caliphate decline?
Q. what happened during the Umayyad Caliphate?
Asked by kellies - Sun Nov 4 13:51:30 2007 - - 1 Answers - 0 Comments

A. The Umayyad Caliphate ended when the Abbasid family usurped power in AD 750. The Umayyads had come to power in AD 660 when Mu'awiyya took the caliphate from the Fourth and last "Rightful" Caliph `Ali in the "First Fitna" war and moved the capital to Damascus. Many Muslims did not believe that the Umayyads were the right people to lead the Muslim community (the "umma"). They argued instead that only those of Muhammad's family (or tribe) had the right to the caliphate. They therefore had a sizeable proportion of their population that resented their control from the beginning. This was not a problem at first as the early Umayyads were quite competent. When they ruled, the caliphate was reasonably stable and prosperous. They were able to… [cont.]

A. As salaam to you all, Without a Khalifah in place there is no Islam on this earth. It is a bound duty of every Muslim to uphold Islam and to have a Khalifah to rule over us. The Khalifah is not chosen by Allah (SWT) but by the Ummah in general. But who could be the Khalifah? He must attend the Musjid regularly, be pious and certainly would not want the job anyway. He cannot put himself forward for the position, nor can a single group propose him either. So there goes any ability of there being a Khalifah due to secular differences, for each group would want their own person in place and distrust any other. Islam regards the election process to be at least by 75 percent of the Ummah for it to be a true election and to be agreed upon. Can… [cont.]

A. The Fatimids were zealous missionaries, and managed to spread the religion into Yemen and large parts of Egypt. By military means they managed to broaden their control over areas beyond the homeland of Tunisia, into large parts of North Africa, Sardinia and Sicily. Towards the end of the 10th century, the Fatimids made Egypt their centre, and managed even to extend control into the homelands of Islam, securing control over the holy cities of Mecca and Madina. Why do you think only old men believs in sharia? 3. Why do you ignore that most of the people is any Islamic movement are dynamic youngsters 4. You still have to prove that being gay is normal. 5. You should know that being gay and having anal sex is two different things 6. Woman not driving is internal arrangement of SA 7. How evolution can be banned? 8. The term caliphate, "dominion of a caliph ('successor')" (from the Arabic خلافة or khilāfa, Turkish: Hilafet), refers to the first system of government established in Islam and represented the political unity of the Muslim Ummah (community). In theory, it is an aristocraticconstitutional republic (the Constitution being the Constitution of Medina), which means that the head of state, the Caliph, and other officials are representatives of the people and of Islam and must govern according to constitutional and religious law, or Sharia. In its early days, it resembled elements of direct democracy (see shura) and an elective monarchy.
