A. It is standard practise in a lot of retail businesses to close the till and have a manager or second party count the till down. If you are over in your deposit, you have short changed the customer. Another thing I have done if it was too busy to close the till was to take the customer's name and number and call them at the end of business and let them know if the till was over or not. You're going to make mistakes, it's only human, but you don't want to fall for a con.

How often should aquarium filter media be changed?

A. You never change out the bio-media ... this is what holds the good bacteria and if you remove it, you tank must go through a cycle again!!! Carbon media should be changed out when it is recommended, since it goes bad. I replace carbon media with more bio-media, so I never have to replace that part. I only use carbon when removing meds ... here is why (scroll down or read it all) If your bio-media looks more dirty, as in solid particles, not color because the bacteria will discolor it, then lightly rinse it in TANK water from a water change OR dechlorinated water. Tap water will kill the bacteria. You could age some water in a 5 gallon bucket for 24+ hours and the chlorine would evaporate, but if it is chloramines, you would still… [cont.]
