What cities pay you to go to the police academy?
Q. I know some cities charge tuition for you to go to the police academy and then you have no guarantee of getting a job after and some sponsor you to go to school, but don't pay you while going to school. What cities pay your way through school with salary while going to school. I know Seattle does and some other major cities, but I was wondering if I could have a list of maybe 20 or so cities...thanks!

Which of these Mexican cities would be best to go to on a family vacation?
Q. Me and my two daughters, (14 and 17) are planning on going on a mexican vacation this spring break. We are considering a few places: Manzanillo, Puerto Vallarta, Los Cabos or the Mayan Rivera. Which one of these cities is best for a family vacation? We are looking for a city with lots of attractions and fun things to do. Also, I'm looking for any good resorts in these areas. Thank you!

A. The Mayan Riviera is the only one that is located on the Caribbean side. I much prefer the Caribbean to the Pacific side. The water is so much warmer and it's that beautiful turquoise blue. On the Pacific side, it's rough and cold. Stay in Playa del Carmen (fly to Cancun, PDC is 40 minutes south), You don't mention if you want an AI or not. I put a link to the Riu AI (very nice, kid friendly) and to a really nice condo complex. I personally prefer the condo because you have a kitchen to stock with all the things that teenagers like, they can sleep late, and you can still be up in the living room or on the deck. Check out the webcams on the condo site. What a great beach and pool! The nice thing about this condo is it is really close to… [cont.]

A. This is a very old literature. However, the "new classic" book is "The Spatial Economy" by Fujita, Krugman, and Venables. There is some mathematics in the book, but the basic principles can be understood, I think, if you ignore the math.

How do you solve for the total possible different tours for 24 cities in 4 city groups?
Q. Imagine you are making a tour of cities. There are 24 cities, grouped in cities of 4. Once one city in a group is visited, all the other cities in that group must be visited (in any order) before moving to the next group/city. How many tours are possible?
Asked by Comp - Sat Jun 4 15:59:59 2011 - Mathematics - 3 Answers - Comments

A. You said in any order, therefore we will use combination, rather than permutation. 24C4 = 24! / (4! * (24-4)!) = 10,626 There are 10,626 different sets of 4 cities within the 24 cities.

Why most cities is pushing to be more like Urban city? How Urban is prevent Global Warming?
Q. Our city is Suburban, in the future we are going to be Urban. Most people in different cities is asking city council to be more urban. Why?
Asked by brianchang538@sbcglobal.net - Mon Mar 31 23:53:19 2008 - Global Warming - 1 Answers - Comments

A. The increase of urban city, means that their are more shopping center, more business which attracts many people from other cities and it also helps the city as it get more taxes. As the Urban city develops it is usually very "together" crowed in which a person can just walk to the next store instead of driving 10 miles to get to store, which is use of fossil fuel and causes CO2 in the atmosphere

Q. My fiance and I would like to get married within the next year, but I'm planning on going to graduate school so I need to apply to schools in cities with ample mechanical engineering opportunities so that my future husband, a mechanical engineering major, will be likely to get job offers in the same city. He seems to think that engineers can get jobs anywhere, but I'd still like narrow my search of grad schools for those in cities with ample opportunities for him.

What should be done about cities who deny our military but give homes to illegals?
Q. We have many cities out there becoming sanctuary cities and protecting illegals (even the State of New York is giving them driver licenses). SF has recently denyed the Marines the right to film a video there to be used in recruting. What a patriotism and support for our troops. Dude the reason I did not mention is that it would favorably show the military from sea to shing sea as they already used NY in the ad. Lib answers on this question prove the obvious, free speech is only recognized when the liberal gets to speak, act out, etc but not when the military, Right to Life, conservatives, the administration wants to speak out. A. I agree with Nomadic and Family H that Taipei is a really good for its MT and for the convinces of shopping and entertainment and the good hospitals. However my living in Taichung has made me biased towards this city, because the weather is better than a lot of other cities because we are surrounded by mountains which protect us from a lot of the typhoons as well as the temperatures don't get as cold in the winter as Taipei and as hot as Kaohsiung in the summer. Housing market in Taipei is really good there are lots of places to live within different communities, but the prices are much higher than in Taichung. How was it possible for ancient Roman cities to develop farther inland, further away from rivers and coastline?
Q. They developed systems for moving water and sewage. The emperor sent governors out to check on the development of inland cities. The inland cities received state financial support, in return for protection from invaders. The cities situated themselves among trade routes, and built their economies on trade.
Asked by Im Nice - Mon Jul 5 19:52:40 2010 - Geography - 2 Answers - 1 Comments

A. As they developed their infrastructure in cities on the coasts they expanded inland using the same infrastructure. You pretty much answered your own question with the trade route location. That would be an excellent place to have a city.

Should cities start building community gardens to feed the poor?
Q. Cities have all the big equipment they use for keeping the parks nice. Why not start using vacant land in the community to start vegetable gardens to supplement the food banks and homeless shelters. With the economic slump, these places are not getting the donations they used to get. This could be a way to help them out and put vacant land to use. You can buy a lot of carrot seeds with $1. Volunteers from the master gardeners programs and from the shelters themselves could do most the work after the land is prepared. Many cities have compost programs too. What do you think?
Asked by GreatAunty - Sun Sep 6 14:18:35 2009 - Government - 10 Answers - Comments

A. This IS being done; what you're calling for is expansion. Yes, it's an excellent idea. SOME obstacles are: No all vacant land belongs to the government; much of it needs more than seed to grow food; much of it has toxic substances; few places have the organization in place to do it. If you wanted to start such a program, maybe you should research existing ones, and pick those folks' brains on how to start another. An additional benefit is, a LOT of people live far from stores that even STOCK fresh fruits and veggies; all those folks would be really helped by such programs. Have you tried typing "Community Garden" into your favorite search engine?

A. They undercut our construction jobs by working for under union scale, on a cash basis. They don't need to be covered by workman's comp. It's called sub-contracting. The problem with that is simple, if an illegal gets hurt on the job so what. According to employers illegals are expendable. There will be another truckload coming by tomorrow. The illegals choose to come here and choose to work construction. Nobody twisted their arm. They know what they are doing and will continue to work tax free until our government kicks them out.

How do cities next to the Ocean run out of drinking water?
Q. Seriously I just read about some cities running low on fresh drinking water and a few of these cities are located right next to the ocean. How do you run low on fresh water when you have the Ocean? We have had the technology to turn salt water into fresh water for years, as well as water purification systems. I just don't get how that is possible to run out, with so much water at your fingertips. It is very easy to take salt water and make it into fresh water, can they not do that?
