Vevey on Lac Leman is quite pretty; it's also where Charlie Chaplin retired and died. the lake is surrounded by Alps, almost as if the peaks are just rising out of the water. on a clear day, the combination of water and mountains seem to stretch on forever. Vevey, however, is on flat land. if you want to get close to the mountains, it's better to be within them.
