Is Faroese a separate language or is it a dialect of Danish?
Q. I'm fluent in Swedish and Norwegian, plus a few others. I'm looking into studying all of the Scandinavian languages, Danish and Icelandic. Then hopefully go onto learn to read Old Norse. I've been looking everywhere to either learn or find different study materials for Faroese. But I have found nothing on learning Faroese. Also any tips.

[cont.]

Do sugar (danish) and whole wheat bread of same calories have same effect on our bodies?
Q. I ate a very sugary danish (290 calories) instead of a meal because I didn't have time to cook today. I was wondering if a 290 calories meal (consisted of whole wheat bread and other healthy carbs) would have the same effect on my body. Or would the danish make me fatter than the meal? Thanks in advance!

A. The danish is high GI, and the bread is low GI which is slow to absorb, and has more fibre.

What are the differences and similarities between the Danish and the Dutch?
Q. What are the differences and similarities between the Danish and the Dutch? (In terms of their way of life, customs and other things)
Asked by Marc - Mon Jul 27 16:51:28 2009 - - 2 Answers - 0 Comments

A. They both like football, neither has won a World Cup but both have won a European Championship. They are both used to being small neighbors of Germany with relatively large coastlines. They are both very progressive countries with very democratic tendencies. The biggest difference is probably that the Danes speak Danish and the Dutch speak Dutch... Obviously. If anything, the Danes are probably more Scandinavian (Dutch are NOT Scandinavian) while the Dutch have historically been more influenced by the French and the British. This is a very hard question to answer.
