What is the difference between a History major and History Education major?
Q. I was wondering what would the differences in studies be, and the career field differences thereof. Obviously History Education would apply to what it is named for, but History alone seems vague and possibly has a broad career field. Is there really any difference and which would be the better route?
Asked by csfoxbody91 - Mon Jun 20 12:58:46 2011 - History - 3 Answers - Comments

A. Depends on what you are looking for. If your love is of history for its sake, then you will learn more about history as a history major than as a History Education major. History Education will require to combine a mix of education courses with history courses. You'll learn less history and will have to take education classes, which I can tell you as a teacher myself, are a waste of time and incredibly boring to sit through. If your goal is to teach history, then I'd double major in both. The Ed. major will prepare you to be a history teacher, and the history major will ensure that you know your material well. On it's own a history major is a general liberal arts major. No direct career correlation.

What is the philosophical difference between a child obeying primal instincts and an act of evil?
Q. A baby is wholly self-indulgent, a criminal is wholly self-indulgent. Ignoring differences of age and experience, what is the philosophical difference between the two? If you have trouble ignoring said differences, here is a different framing of the question: A man in a novel is depicted in one respect as evil, taking advantage of others and thereby stealing from them, while, in another, he is shown to be pathetic and frail, with an unorganized and undeveloped sense of self, engaging in what in the other respect is considered "evil" simply as a method of self-indulgence. What is the *philosophical* difference between the two?
Asked by topherblah - Sat Feb 14 09:22:05 2009 - Philosophy - 5 Answers - Comments

A. The difference,in ethics as in law, is one of intention and autonomy. Evil requires knowledge in advance of likely consequences, and the choice to do otherwise. Children have neither.

A. Yes. The desktop version is more powerful than the laptop one. Usually by a great deal too especially in the higher end bracket, i.e a 5850 Radeon desktop video card would destroy a 5850 mobile Radeon

Asked by star_1987_13 - Sun Sep 24 18:55:32 2006 - Other - Food & Drink - 4 Answers - Comments

A. Plantains are a member of the banana family. They are a starchy, low in sugar variety that is cooked before serving as it is unsuitable raw. It is used in many savory dishes somewhat like a potato would be used and is very popular in Western Africa and the Caribbean countries. It is usually fried or baked. It's such a versatile fruit, yet it is so misunderstood. And while most people think it looks like an ugly banana, it is really much, much more. The plantain is the only fruit that can be used at all stages of ripeness, (green, yellow and black) and it has distinct and delicious flavor at all stages. While the plantain is a fruit, it is not eaten raw like any other fruit but is treated more like a vegetable and served fried, baked,… [cont.]

A. E.m.f is the voltage across a battery when the circuit is open (Infinite resistance). Though we actually measure the potential difference across the battery, we don t use the word potential difference, but say e.m.f or open circuit voltage, to give emphasis that this p.d is the p.d when the circuit is open. We use the term voltage or potential difference only when the circuit is closed, in other word only when a current is drained in the circuit. When current is drained, the potential difference across the battery will always be less than the open circuit voltage or e.m.f. Thus e.m.f is the maximum potential difference across the battery and this happens only when no current is drained from the battery. It is clear now that potential… [cont.]

What is the difference between ordinal data and interval data?
Q. The book says that ordinal can be used to rank or order individuals or groups, but it can NOT be used to determine how much of a difference exists between individuals. It gives the examples of percentile rankings on standardized tests and place finishes in a race. I don't understand why these numbers can not be used to determine the difference between individuals. Isn't the percentile ranking and place finish in a race used exactly for the purpose of comparing one performance against another? If someone finished 3rd in a race, and someone else finished 8th, the difference in their places is 5. It says you CAN use interval numbers to determine differences between individuals based on some trait or characteristic. Interval numbers are… [cont.]
Asked by Tommy - Tue Mar 6 11:20:12 2007 - Mathematics - 1 Answers - Comments

A. Ordinal data just tells you the order of something. i.e. think of a 100m race. 1st place might take 10 secs, 2nd might be 10.5 secs and 3rd could be 11.09 secs. The interval times between them are not fixed. Ordinal data just provides the position of where they came. Interval data provides information which is more quantative. On the temperature scale you mention, 10 degrees Farenheit and say 11 degrees Farenheit - the difference is 1 degree... the interval between each is the same - the scale is uniform!! Ordinal - scale not uniform Interval - scale is uniform

A. "The permanent marker was invented in 1890. A permanent marker is a type of marker pen that is used to create permanent writing on an object. Generally the liquid is water resistant, contains the toxic chemical xylene or toluene, and is capable of writing on a variety of surfaces from paper to metal to stone" vs A non-permanent marker uses an erasable ink an ink that adheres to the writing surface without binding or being absorbed by it for temporary writing with overhead projectors, whiteboards, and the like. They may also be used by children when adults want to be able to clean up after them. The erasable ink does not contain the toxic chemical compounds xylene and/or toluene, unlike permanent markers.

There is the E with the little p, U, and the O with a line through it. Is there a difference when using them or should they be used in different types of equations. I have looked around a little on the web but could really find out the difference. I'm just going to be using it for a joke sign to represent lazy people.

What is the difference between a 10w guitar amp and a 15w guitar amp?
Q. I don't know much about electric guitars. What would be the difference between a 10w amp and a 15w amp? Is there a big difference, or is it hard to tell a difference?
Asked by Me - Tue Sep 2 11:58:05 2008 - Other - Music - 6 Answers - Comments

A. the difference between a 10 and 15 watt solid state amp will be barely noticeable. at those wattage levels manufactures really don't put much effort in making the best amp possible. that is unless your buying a tube amp which is a whole other issue. buy the amp that you think sounds best, ignore the logo and get what sounds best. even at 10 watts with a good speaker your guitar can and will be more than loud enough. if you need it for a band situation than you'll probably need 50+ watts. bottom-line the difference in watts is for one reason to get more clean headroom. a 50 watt amp will only be a little louder than a 15 watt amp. beginning guitarists always think that bigger and louder is better. better tone is always better.

What is the difference between the cash basis of accounting and the accrual basisof accounting?
Q. What is the difference between the cash basis of accounting and the accrual basisof accounting? Which one (cash basis or accrual basis) would you select for a company that has inventory? Why? Does the size of the company make a difference in which basis cash or accrual is used? Explain how it makes a difference. What would be the advantages and disadvantages of using one basis of accounting over the other?
Asked by Gee - Thu Apr 8 14:06:15 2010 - Other - Business & Finance - 1 Answers - 1 Comments

A. In the cash basis actual receipt or payment of cash ( cash includes cheque) is accounted. Under the accrual method irrespective of the movement of cash, ( receipt / payment ) the Transaction is accounted on the due date. For example If Rent is not paid on the last day of the month, it is accounted by debiting Rent a/c crediting Accounts payable. As the inventory is already received and payment is not made, it is appropriate to follow the accrual method. The accrual method is good for the company having inventory. Yes For a bigger company it is advisable to follow the accrual system, otherwise it is very difficult to assess the actual financial position of the Company. By following the accrual system the correct profit and loss, payable and… [cont.]

A. doesn't make a difference. they have the different set ups for certain pipes and certain cars. some cars have the muffler situated so the exhaust pipe can only enter the far side of the muffler. others have enough room for the pipe to go down the middle. all depends ps. try magnaflow instead of flowmasters. they sound good but rob your horsepower
