What is the domain and range of this assignment?
Q. I need help understanding the meaning of the assignment can anyone give me examples of what it means or just dumb it down for me lol ? Complete: Examine several newspapers and magazines and describe at least three examples of functions that you find. What is the domain and range of each function?

A. Apparently, this is a fairly common question and the question is broken down nicely at Brain Mass.com. "The amount of money you pay for a gym membership is a function, because you pay a fee each month in addition to the initial fees for joining. In this case, the amount of money you pay is dependent on how many months you continue to be a member of the gym, so the amount of money you pay is the dependent variable (or range) and the number of months you continue to be a member of the gym is the independent variable (or domain). "Some possible domain values could be (1, 2, 3, 4) months. Some possible corresponding range values could be (80, 110, 140, 170) dollars. "In fact, this function could be written as f = 30m + 50 where… [cont.]

How to fid the domain and range of an exponential function?
Q. I was wondering how you defined the domain and range of an exponential function. Also, how do you find them?
Asked by Ash57 - Wed May 13 21:47:21 2009 - Homework Help - 1 Answers - Comments
A. the easiest way is to sketch a graph. The domain is equal to all the x values the graph covers, say negative infinity to positive infinity. The range is equal to all of the y-values that the graph covers. So in the case of a parabola, it could be something like 0 to infinity.

How can I view private/protected WHOIS domain information for a site that I think is running a scam?
Q. I think I have come across a site that is running a scam, and I want to obtain the website's WHOIS domain information so I can contact who is responsible, but they're using one of those paid private domain registries... How can I get a copy of that record? Doesn't the law require that all website domains be registered to a liable entity, and that such information be public record?
Asked by Insurable Interest - Mon Apr 19 17:51:33 2010 - Security - 3 Answers - Comments
A. Contact the proxy private registration service the domain is registered under. The whois will give you an email address (which usually forwards to the domain owner) and tel. number of the service the registrant is using.I would make the complaint directly to the private registration service and if they see this as a scam they will probably drop their client like a hot potato.

Once signed in, you will see modules for each of your domain names on the "Manage My Services" page. What happens if I cancel a service plan during the domain transfer process?
Q. I have initiated the transfer process and paid for my new domain service elsewhere, including entering the domain register authorization code from my old provider to the new one. What would happen if I canceled my service contract with my old (current) domain registrar right now? I ask because it's due to renew, and I want to cancel it BEFORE it does, since they won't refund my money. If I cancel it today (for example), what will happen to the domain transfer process? Will I lose the money I've paid the company I'm transferring to?

What are the best websites to find public domain images of countries around the world?
Q. I need to do a whole project containing exclusively images coming from public domain websites and I was just wondering what was the best source for that. I need pictures of many places around the world and if possible, relating to political events. Images coming from Google are not accepted, they have to come from a public domain website and sometimes it's really hard. Thanks in advance.

A. Try Wikipedia (or wikimedia). It always tells you if the picture is public domain or not.

What's the difference between register a domain and buy/sell a domain?
Q. I know there are people out there buying and selling domains. I also want to pick my own domain but all I can find is domain registration. Does that mean I don't own it so I can't sell it? How can I own a domain so that I can put it on auction?
Asked by Bill - Sat Apr 3 22:21:01 2010 - Computer Networking - 2 Answers - 1 Comments
A. First you have to register a domain. You then control that one and can use it or put it up for sale. Most all the really good ones are already taken. Be careful of registering a domain that might be someone's registered trademark.

A. When you purchase a domain name from an online registrar, this guarantees that you will be the sole user of that name for as long as you keep it registered. So every year you need to renew the registration to be the sole owner of the domain name.

What is the difference between domain and range?
Q. What is the difference between domain and range? These questions were posted in my algebra class for a discussion and I do not know what it means at all I feel like I am taking a foreign language can somebody please help? Describe a real-life situation that could be modeled by a function.
Asked by elizabeth_deur - Sat Nov 29 18:03:06 2008 - Mathematics - 2 Answers - Comments
A. Hi, For this question, you should remember that domain represents the set of possible 'x' values (independent values) of a function where a possible 'y' value is produced. Now, the range implies just the opposite: the set of possible 'y' values (dependent values) of a function where a possible 'x' value is produced. Therefore, let's look at the equation y = 1 / x. Notice how if we put x = 0 into that equation, the 'y' value we get would be 1 / 0 which is not possible. Hence, x = 0 is not in the domain. However, the range, would be the span of the corresponding 'y' values that make this equation true. I hope that helps you out! Please let me know if you have any other questions!
