What should I do to have a Domain registration website?
Q. Can anyone suggest me what should I do to have a domain registration website with me? I am going to host a website for hosting/web servers, and I want to know what should I do for the customers to register domains on my site. Thanks

A. You have to get set up as a domain name reseller. There are several ways that you can go about this, with several different reseller providers. Most of the major registrars will have reseller programs. If you want, they can be purchased at the link below, and the storefront that I currently run is the second link. Good luck!

What is the most expensive Domain Name Registration service on the market today?
Q. No, I'm not crazy - I'm writing an article :-) There are a lot of registrars that charge around $10, or free with purchase. But who has the most expensive domain registration on the net? And I'm not talking about pre-registered domains. Thanks
Asked by alex - Mon Feb 12 13:01:05 2007 - - 3 Answers - 1 Comments

A. NSI (Network Solutions) used to be $35 a year. They are/were the company that registered all domain names no matter where they were purchased from. Registering through them directly used to be the most expensive...not sure if that is the case anymore.

How much control do I have over Domain Registration Information from GoDaddy?
Q. I have a domain name with GoDaddy. I originally signed up for Private Registration via DomainsByProxy. My question is if I cancel the Private Registration, does the domain Registrant Information get automatically populated from my personal account information at GoDaddy? Or do I have the option to change all of the fields to different answers? I am fully aware that I must still provide true information for the contact fields. Thanks!
Asked by JACE - Mon Oct 19 20:08:26 2009 - - 2 Answers - 1 Comments

A. Yes, if you cancel your domain privacy, the information you have set in GoDaddy (admin, technical and billing contacts) will populate the Whois information and become publicly visible to anyone who wishes to look. The contact information can be changed any time you like for each domain name you own. Do this through your GoDaddy domain management panel. It can take up to 48 hours for the new contact information to show up in all of the different Whois databases around the world.

Q. I plan to resell Domain Name Registration at my website, can anyone share your experience on which supllier should I sign-up with? I also have developed my own E-commerce website, therefore I would prefer a supplier that has a flexible control panel that allow me to resell my own product as well as their Payment Gateway product. A. Directi's ResellerClub API is relatively simple to put into use. It is flexible enough to let you bundle products & services. You can sell your own product and at the same time include some of ResellerClub s products. ResellerClub API comes with a specification, client side kits, sample forms, sample code and complete documentation. PHP, Perl, ASP.NET and Java client side kits available.

how does domain registration work? can you answer these questions?
Q. 1. if i register a domain, is that mine to use no matter who does the page HOSTING? for ex: if I register a domain with yahoo, and my ISP gives me free hosting, can I connect the two? 2. how likely is it that the company i do the registration with this year will give me the about same price next year? What if they significantly increase the price, can i MOVE my registration somehow to a competitor?
Asked by eject911 - Tue Nov 14 13:43:36 2006 - - 3 Answers - 0 Comments

A. 1. You can have your domain registered with a different company than who provides your hosting, you just need to set your nameserver settings with your domain host to point to your web host. Your web host should be able to tell you what the DNS settings should be. 2. Domain registration is very competitive - it's highly unlikely that your rate will increase very much, since you will probably constantly get offers from competing companies to switch. It's relatively easy to switch who your domain is registered with - and it's even easier to change your hosting provider.

Who do you recommend for domain name registration?
Q. Just putting together a website and wondering how to choose from the scads of domain registration services out there. Are there a few that are very well known? Or certain services / features that I should look for or avoid?

A. I have used GoDaddy.com for my registrar for the past 4yrs now. I do not have any complaints with them and just the other day they refunded the reduced cost they negotiated with ICAN on the fee they must pay them for each domain name. It wasn't much, but it was the meaning that they would not pocket the money they were just refunded. They do offer other services, though I can not tell you about them as I do not need them, nor use them. I would suggest not going to any registrar who charges over $10 a year for your domain. There are more than plenty out there that charge less than $10 a year. So paying more just is not a thing you have to do.

A. Hello, Most of registrar gives Whois Privacy Protection. Some charge for this and some gives in free. Like godaddy charge 6 - 8 USD for this. gives in free. While ordering your domain you just need to chose privacy protection. It will show a raw data in whois from registrar. Regards, Vinay icann accredited Domain Registrar

A. You don't have to choose a hosting company from India. I'm from Europe but am hosting with Dreamhost (a US company). You just need a credit card or a Pay Pal account to pay them online. Since you're from India I recommend They are one of the leading European hosting companies, and they currently have a promotion in India. They are offering free hosting and a domain (I think you have to pay about 10 setup fee and that's it). Every plan includes Photo Gallery, WebEditor (so you can build a website without knowledge of HTML), Google Adwords coupon (so you can advertise your website on google for free) and a lot more. Check them out. P.S. They are running this promotion in UK, Germany, Austria, Switzerland and India so if you're from one… [cont.]

Does the length of your domain registration affect your google ranking?
Q. I've heard for example that if i renew my site for 3 years it will rank higher than renewing my domain name for 1 year. Is this true?
Asked by The Shadow - Thu Nov 27 08:18:26 2008 - - 4 Answers - 1 Comments

A. The exact details of how Google ranks pages is kept a secret so there is not way to know for sure, but people who have studied Google's patents and other document believe that domain registration could have an effect. Since Google is trying to find "quality" pages, a longer domain registration would indicate a bigger commitment to maintaining the page long term.

A. I believe not trivial to get into the domain registrar business, see links below. It's a world easier to get a hosting reseller account, many hosting companies are actually small operators selling space on a bigger company's servers. I don't know the details of how hosting companies manage the free domain they include with some accounts, maybe a middleman. namepros.com is a domainer forum that should have some experts in this field.

Can Domain Registration and Web Hosting Be Done With Different Companies?
Q. I need to create a very simple website. HTML will probably work fine for it. If I have a domain name registered from Blogger, can I have my site hosted by another company, like godaddy for example, and use that domain name? Or do they have to be with the same company? Do I just let the hosting company know my domain name and they will take care of it or do I have to do something? Thanks.

A. Hi Ashley, Godaddy has domains for $6.99 for the first year: If you don't care about the domain extension, the .info names are cheaper, going for $1.99 per year: DomainsAreFree has them for $3.99 I assume it's for the first year. Personally, I use aplus.net for all my domain names. I have many of them :) Aplus takes credit cards and they are very secure. I've used it for my own domains, and many of my friends and family. In any event, $9.99 per year is no big deal. You could pay that by skipping lunch for a few days. Best regards, subexpression

How do I get help with a domain name registration order.?
Q. I received two online ads from yahoo small business for 1.99 registration. when i clicked on the link in the first ad and signed up for domain registration for catewilsondesigns.com, I was charged 9.95 instead of the 1.99 offered for new customers. How do I get the charge reduced to 1.99.

A. When you signed up, you probably didn't read all the options very closely. Yahoo offers very good web hosting, but they try very hard (almost deceptively) to get you to take more expensive options. I have almost always had very good experiences with Yahoo. Just call their customer service people and they should be able to work it out. Be patient, since you are probably the one that made the mistake by checking the wrong box. Call their sales number at 866-781-9246. If that's not the right number, they should be able to tell you who to call.

A. Hi, When looking into webhosting services for your website the first thing to do is to assess your own personal needs as they pertain to those hosting services you'll want to consider. Small homepages will have vastly different web hosting criteria from the website of a large company for instance. It is also important to take into consideration anything you are planning on hosting in the near future as well and to take any potential growth into account so that you are not caught off guard by unexpected costs. The next step in finding web hosting services for your needs is to compare the rates of different hosting companies. While many companies will offer temptingly low rates it's crucial to know how much the prices will grow if your… [cont.]
