Ceiba (SAY-bah) is a small town in northeast Puerto Rico. It is named after the famous Ceiba tree. Ceiba is located in the east coast of the island, bordering the Atlantic Ocean, north of Naguabo, south of Fajardo, and east of Río Grande. It is located about one hour's driving distance from San Juan. Ceiba is spread over 7 wards and Ceiba Pueblo (The downtown area and the administrative center of the city). It is part of the Fajardo Metropolitan Statistical Area. Ceiba, situated near Fajardo, used to be home of an American military air-base, the Roosevelt Roads Naval Station. Most of the units there were relocated and the base was closed in 2004. Ex-governor Sila María Calderón suggested turning the property into a major international airport, to serve as a relief to Luis Muñoz Marín International Airport in San Juan, and to increase the number of international airlines that operate into Puerto Rico. She has met with skepticism about these plans from such groups as environmentalists, economists and others, and the situation as far as what will be done with Ceiba's old air base is still being debated. Locals are commonly known as "Los Come Sopa" (The Soup Eaters). Even though there is no official reason as to why they are called this, a few stories have been suggested. Among the tales is the belief that since the town did not have a local meat market people had to travel long distances in order to buy some meat and therefore mostly ate soup. Ceiba is also known as "La Ciudad del Marlin" (The town of the Marlin). From Wikipedia under the

It might get there with the information how it is. At this point it can be Street 11, # M-3 or Street 3,#11m. Personally if all they asked you was for the urbanization then write this: Mr. J Urbanizacion Jardines de Ceiba II 11 m 3 Ceiba,PR 00735 Hope this helps. Answered by Edwin - Mon Oct 19 13:10:17 2009 Looking into moving to Puerto Rico.? Q. My husband is in the Navy and he might be receiving orders to go to PR. I speak fluent spanish and would like to get as much info as possible on moving there, like housing, culture, crime rate, education (I have an 11y/o). I believe the base is in Ceiba so I don't know which towns would be good to look for houses. ANY and ALL help will be greatly appreciated! Thank you! They might be able to provide lots of information and advance planning tools. In addition, you might be able to sign up for On-Base Housing prior to actually getting to Roosevelt Roads Naval Base in Ceiba. Anyway, attached are a couple of links with information regarding everything you wanted to know about Puerto Rico. From History, Politics, Culture, Sports, etc. Good luck and have a good time. Q. I am going to Costa Rica (staying in San Jose for 6 nights, taking a day trip to Arenal, then flying to Quepos and going to Manuel Antonio for 1 day), then I want to fly to Roatan, Honduras. I want to spend 1 day in Roatan, but then I want to go to Cayos Cochinos, but how do I get there from Roatan? After Cayos Cochinos, I want to go to Utila, and then to La Ceiba. After I finish up with Central America, I want to head over to Mexico City, spend about 10 days in Mexico City, then go to Aruba for about 4 days, and then finish the trip up with Puerto Rico (6 days in San Juan, a day in Vieques, and a day in Fajardo). I have major transporation issues with this trip. For example, 1 day at Roatan? No offense, but like much of your itinerary, this is a ridiculous idea. There is no true glory in creating a long list of stops on your trip if you do not actually experience the places you visit. make it easier and more pleasant for yourself. Read up on the places you wish to see and then choose from among them, giving your self a minimum of 2-3 days or more at each place, skipping some of the list entirely. there is a wise saying that goes: see what you look at Listen to what you hear you won't be doing any of these things if… [cont.] Answered by justagorilla - Tue Sep 2 13:32:35 2008 From Yahoo Answer Search: "ceiba, puerto rico" Puerto Rico fordert US-Hilfe zur Bekaempfung des Hochwassers - latina press
