What are the best relaxing European cities?
Q. I am planning a honeymoon to Europe with my fiancee to some major tourist destinations but I was hoping to add in for a few days a more relaxing place as well. Especially since the major cities are filled with museums, churches, historic sites, etc. We are looking for a western european city that will have resort like places but still enough to do for a few days. Also a city with a big enough airport that we can fly to it direct from major airports (London, Paris, Rome). Thanks!

Q. When does the European socer/football season start and how long does it last?

A. A typical European season begins in August and ends in May. Some leagues end in early June due to a winter break in December or due to some re-scheduling of matches because of fixture congestion or teams are competing in European tournaments.

How did the US ensure European stability during the Cold War?
Q. The US was the key element in ensuring European stability during the Cold War. What were the motivations and actions of the US in order to do this?
Asked by Brad - Sun Sep 21 18:16:26 2008 - - 4 Answers - 0 Comments
A. Probably the key element is NATO, the North Atlantic Treaty Organization. It used collective security for its members to stall any kind of Communist aggression in Western Europe. Western Europe would be America's first line of defense for any invasion from the Communist East. A prosperous, peaceful Western Europe kept this line of defense viable. One initial action taken to bolster Western Europe was the Marshall Plan, a bold plan to rebuild industry and free governments in that area.

Sovereignity of member states of the European Union is an illusion?
Q. Would you call the member states of the European Union sovereign? Since the legislation of the European Communities has priority over national laws, and the economic freedom of the member states is nearly non-existent. And the powers conferred on the European Communities (and the European Union) are not restricted to the economy only; the European Union ''controls'' many facets of the European societies. So, isn't it an illusion that European countries (the member states, that is) are still sovereign? And if they haven't lost their sovereignity now, aren't they bound to lose it eventually when the European Union is developing so fast? Wow, and you didn't answer my question at all.

A. Do you mean the African continent or the country of South Africa? The enactment of apartheid laws, South Africa, was in 1948. South Africa was colonised by the English and Dutch in the seventeenth century. Countries in Africa were colonised by more than four European countries. Britain, Germany, Belgium, France, Portugal, Spain and Italy all colonised countries in Africa prior to 1948. See the list and dates at the website below.

In the case of Romania, should European decisions give more importance to social or economic benefits?
Q. By choosing to let Romania join the European Union, there are economic advantages because they have low cost labor and their tax system is brilliant for new businesses. However, on the social hand we have been invaded by gypsies and the criminality ratio invonving Romanians skyrocketed throughout Western Europe. So what is better for Europe? Economic or Social benefits? According to the EU, it seems like they don't give a damn to social factors when they bring changes to any European agreement.

A. Did you know the Nazis massacred gypsy's during the holocaust. "The sterilization of Gypsies was started as early as 1933 while camps were being established by the Nazis to contain Gypsies at Dachau, Dieselstrasse, Mahrzan and Vennhausen. The vast majority of Jews were to suffer the same indignities as the Roma. Scholarly estimates of deaths in the Sinti and Roma genocide range from 220,000 to 500,000 [8] although Ian Hancock challenges this figure and puts the estimates as 500,000 to 1,500,000.[9]" I think you should remember this before stereotyping all gypsys, thats dangerous and has lead to genocide before. Have the gypsys committed genocide against your ppl? I think not.
