very small portion of the first chapter of my first novel.. Opinions, please?!?
Q. I hit my snooze button a countless amount of times, desperate to fall back into unconsciousness, dreading the following morning. I wasn t looking forward to hearing the same voice travel up the stairs that dragged me out of bed every day. I just wanted to sleep, the dreary shadows of my room lulling me into the sheets. Wasn t I going to suffer enough today? Couldn t I just get what I wanted most for a little bit longer? Nope. Cameron Mae Kennedy, wake up! Breakfast is ready! Mom yelled as usual, crushing my dreams as I shot up in bed. Hearing the rain pour on my windowpane, I realized that the weather must be in sync with my mood, and of course, today would be the unexpected rainy day that the weatherman forecasted wrong again. It… [cont.]

I realized that the weather must be in sync with my mood, and of course, today would be the unexpected rainy day that the weatherman forecasted wrong again. A. Wow--this is awesome! I'd love to read more of it! As soon as you get the second chapter done, email it to me!! I love being able to read other people's work, being a writer myself. It'a very well-written, and lots of people can relate to the characters--The sarcastic, quiet, and seemingly sensitive girl who grew up without a father, the energetic best friend that helps her be happy, the stuck-up rich girl snob that everyone hates but hangs out with anyway, the nerdy-ish guy friend hopelessly in love with the lead, and they ex bf you have a slight problem with, cause he's dating the girl you hate. I personally relate to the lead :) But like I said when you get more done, I would love to hear it, so email it to me!

Colorado honeymoon?
Q. I get married April 25th 2008 and we plan to spend a week for our honeymoon in Colorado. So far all I know for sure is that we are flying into Denver on the 27th (sunday). We would like to drive a few hrs and spend 2 days then drive a little more and spend time somewheres else. Neither of us know very much about CO but we love the outdoors and someplace where its quiet not many people but there are still attractions so we don't have to just sit around. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.I been looking and I thought about going from Gunnison to Sailda or Pikes peak and then to Trinidad or Beulah then maybe up to the Fort Morgan area then back to Denver to fly out. All I had done was found towns that were easy to drive to so… [cont.]

A. The area around Salida is very pretty. Ft. Morgan is just a little meat packing town in northeast Co. and very STINKY...don't bother. Here are some suggestions. estes park is a charming town aout 1 hr from Denver...great place to go. It is smack dab next to rocky mountain nat'l Park. Nice places to stay in Estes Park and TONS of great guided and unguided hikes in the park Go to the ranger station just a bit in from the entrance to learn about all the things to do. Drive up to the top of Trail Ridge road if it is open. This nat'l Park is wonderful for outdoor activities. Then, in Denver...there is an excellent museum. one of the best in the country, and the zoo too. I have put severl websites for places in Denver below. Then you… [cont.]

Looking for title of a book?
Q. it is a fictional book about a woman who leaves her life in NYC to go to eastern Colorado and has to adjust to rural living in the Fort Morgan area. I just remember some of the scenes: a room in the house, the coffee shop, the night sky but not the 'plot'. I think is was more of a sense of place/self-realization piece of work. Read it at least 10 years ago and have looked for it again for about that long - to suggest to a couple of friends.

Why only the Swift Company?
Q. Over a thousand alien workers were arrested or detained for investigation at Swift Meat Company. Why were they singled out? They were arrested at Swift in Marshalltown, Iowa, why were they singled out? Why didn't they also go to Excel in Ottumwa, Iowa? So is someone getting paid off? They went to Greely, Colorado, but again not to Fort Morgan, Colorado. Does it seem like payoffs by some meat packers?
Asked by Thomas S - Thu Dec 14 13:27:32 2006 - - 2 Answers - 0 Comments

A. I believe they were singled out because the workers at Swift were using other people's social security numbers to get hired. It was a year long investigation, I heard. I heard that the investigators believed Swift helped them steal the SS#'s, but the Swift higher ups said that was not true. I guess time will tell.

A. that was pretty good. and i loveee the first sentence. "the rain splashing on my window pane in the dreary shadows of the room" its a little confusing, and when you think about it.. it gives an air or mystery. keep writing! :) and read mine please? thankss. :) EDIT- btw, this sounds like something you would read from the A-list novels because of the way it's written and the way the characters talk. loveee ittt. :)

Asked by Adam B - Wed May 6 09:31:14 2009 - - 2 Answers - 0 Comments

A. Yes you would because you are using it commercially. You need to contact your local DOT or get on their homepage to find out how...it's pretty simple...And also the weight of the truck has a lot to do with also when it is loaded...
