How gets Google the ideas of their employees?
Q. I read that the people at Google can use a part of their working time not for their normal work but to be creative and to invent new ideas during that time. How does the leadership of Google then gets to know this ideas? Do the people put these ideas into the intranet, where it can be judged by the colleagues. Or is their a committee of some people, which collects the ideas and evaluates them. Or is it quite different?

A. Google encourages their employees to spend 20 percent of their time working on ideas they feel will be most beneficial to Google. Based on Google's lavish employee benefits (i.e. free food, tuition reimbursement, back-up child care, etc.), employees whose ideas become reality most likely get generous compensation. Additionally, they get notoriety and a good shot at a promotion. I also noticed, while reviewing Google patents, that all contributing employees names appear to be listed.

Asked by gio - Sun Nov 2 22:30:21 2008 - Google - 8 Answers - Comments

A. You can't. Google updates its search every so often- usually every couple of weeks, i think, to include new images and delete old ones. A representation of your picture is stored on google servers, and will continue to show up for a while longer. As for why it did it, its a result of google's mysterious algorithm. If anyone figured out how it worked, and why, they'd be rich. Just goes to show you how cautious you need to be on the internet.

A. Google gets its revenue from the advertising market - providing ads above and beside searches, and using tracking cookies to know what you search for and the sites you go on to serve you targeted ads that you are more likely to click on and buy through.

A. The best way is to read and understand Google's patent describing their contextual advertising process of scoring ads by price, relevancy, and performance, using a technique called "probabilistic hierarchical inferential learned cluster."

A. At this time the HTC Eris and Motorola Droid are the only Android based phones for Verizon and run the latest versions of the Android OS. The original Google phone, the T-Mobile HTC G1, will probably never be released to another carrier because it can only run the first generation Android OS.

Asked by - Sat Jan 30 22:16:49 2010 - Google - 3 Answers - Comments

A. You can't do anything about it. You have your stuff in Yahoo. Yahoo (and most other sites) SUBMITS all it's content on to search engines so people can find it. It's not googles fault - that's the business they're in - putting peoples information into their search engines because it's been submitted to them for that purpose. Maybe there's something in your Yahoo settings you can change so you can stay hidden (from now on)??? Warning! ANY site that is primarily for sharing info, connecting people etc. like yahoo, msn, forums etc will share the info on search engines. If you don't want to be on there - don't join these type of places or use a nickname or phony name.

How strong would google be if someone were to hack the companies infrastructure?
Q. I was just reading on wiki about the hardware infrastructure of google. It sounds ridiculously enormous! So could this be a possible threat? Or is google pretty much indestructible?
Asked by - Tue Sep 13 22:03:13 2011 - Google - 1 Answers - Comments

A. you don't "Hack" hardware infrastructure, you hack software. anything's destructible as long as you have plenty of C4, you just bring couple guys, grab a few pistols, break into google corporation building and blow up the servers. same can be done to the whitehouse, banks and CIA headquarters.

I am currently generating backlinks by posting on different forums, blog commenting and directory submission. It has been a week now but still there are 0 backlinks to my site according to Google. Yahoo is relatively quicker than Google in recognizing backlinks. Does anyone have any idea how long does it take for Google to recognize backlinks to my website?
Asked by - Sat Jan 9 04:28:05 2010 - Google - 5 Answers - 2 Comments

A. If your backlinks come from good quality (good according to Google) sites then only Google lists them and better quality links take very less time to appear I have seen Google pick up links for my site in less the 4 days. Normally, it will take about 1-2 weeks to get the effect of your backlinks. However, if you can get backlinks from high traffic pages or sites, Google normally used to visit those sites very frequently. Google doesn't list every backlinks to your website, but yahoo does. That s why you think yahoo is quicker. But I believe that Google is faster than Yahoo in indexing websites, so happened to me. If you links are listed in Yahoo, sure Google knows about them, but it may not list them. Use Social Bookmarking which all are… [cont.]

How does Google guard against creative employees taking their ideas and forming their own start-up company?
Q. How does Google, with it's innovative culture (personal 20% time) and creative employees, make sure it's employees remain loyal and do not run off with a great idea and embark on their own entrepreneurial start-up? If an employee has a great proprietary idea, is the idea his or Google's? I don't think confidentiality agreements and non-complete contracts are enough to prevent this from happeing. Anyone have an idea?
Asked by Daniel C - Mon Jan 11 18:09:25 2010 - Corporations - 4 Answers - Comments

A. Confidentiality agreements, non-compete contracts, and professional honor ARE most certainly enough to prevent this from happening, at Google the same as at any other company. If anything, Google's optimum working conditions would likely inspire *more* company loyalty, not less.
