Are government officials in the Philippines allowed to by land and property using government funds?
Q. Are they allowed to do that? Of course what I mean is the property will bought and be owned by the government to be used for projects, and not be owned by Mr. Mayor or Mr. Governor. Doing a little research on it. Thanks.

What extend should a government be encouraged to do business?
Q. In Malaysia, there are many areas where the government has investments through its investment arm or through the ruling party's investment arm. Do we vote for a certain political party to form a government so that it can be rich and the people be poor or deprived of the fruits of economy? I totally disagree with too much investment by the government. The people should be allowed to participate in such investments. Not just the ruling government and its cronies. This is not democracy. This is day light robbery.

A. Best government is small government. Even in democracy, we vote for whatever party or whatever person. That doesn't give them right to over taxes us. Governement run business is bad idea because govenment's business can run even in negative profit. This mean bad business system just keep living suck up taxespayer's money.

Many expenditures do not purchase a physical item. E.g., a soldier's wages is an expenditure but the soldier was not purchased. Another example: donating money to another country is an expenditure on the government fiscal books but nothing was purchased. On the other hand, purchases are included in expenditures.

What is the government's responsibility to the people of this country?
Q. I seem to see a huge difference between what conservatives and liberals view as the governments responsibility towards the citizens.If you are liberal you seem to think the government is meant to be the provider of all our needs, wants, and desires. Where would you as a liberal draw the line on what the government should and should not be providing? Would you say everyone should be given food, clothing, housing, cell phones, internet, college, spending money, cars? Where is your line? What should people provide for themselves, if they want it? What is the best government in the world?
Q. I just want to know different people's opinions. I believe that each person will naturally want different things from their government, and I seek to find out if this is true. In which case, there is no best government for all but only best government for the individual. I am asking best government in the world based on country, but not necessarily best country (climate, population, culture, etc can influence this). What would stop the government from seizing a coin collection, if they simply wanted to take it?
Q. The government uses civil asset forfeiture to seize any property they want, making the victim spend in excess of $10,000 and 3 years to recover his property. The best part for the government is, they do not need to prove you did anything wrong, or pesky warrants to take your property. All they need is the desire to take it, which leads me to my question. Under civil asset forfeiture, what would prevent the government from seizing a personal collection of gold and silver coins for no other reason than they wanted it?

How can we reduce the size of government without causing another great depression?
Q. The government has grown too big and needs to be reduced in order to stop the spiraling deficit. But how can this be done without causing another great depression? The government is the largest employer in the US, millions of people are employed by it. When its size is reduced by any significant amount, people must be laid off and spending must also be reduced. However, with the government laying so many people off, two things will happen; the tax revenue the government receives from their salaries will be eliminated, and those newly unemployed people will sharply reduce their spending. I think you are right in noting that we couldn't reduce the size of the U.S. government _significantly_ without causing another Great Depression, but unlike you, I don't see this as a problem. The U.S. used to have a standard of living that was twice as high as anywhere else in the world. Now, countries such as the Netherlands and Switzerland have higher median incomes they and the Scandinavian countries have higher standards of living. A. Well, the first two indicate government spending which circulates money in the economy leading to a higher GDP. The third one indicates a deficit not due to government spending.
