What is the benefit of exercising an option and holding?
Q. I own a number of stock options that are currently in the money. I believe that the stock is currently undervalued and the company does not pay dividends. Is there any benefit to exercising and holding at this point? And is there a tax event if I do exercise and hold?

A. Generally speaking, one should only exercise one's stock options if the options are about to expire or if you want to cash out and sell the shares immediately. And since you are intending to hold, you should only exercise if your options are expiring. Exercising an option is only taxable if you have nonqualified options. If so, you will have to pay tax on the difference between the exercise price and the market price when you exercise. And if you sell the shares later and have a gain, you will also have to pay capital gains tax on the difference between the market price when you exercised your option and the price when you get when you sell. A. Teachers are the role models for all children in their school. Anyone who knows the person as a teacher holds them to a higher standard because of being a role model. We hold education and learning very high and are responsible for molding and teaching the little minds we encounter in our classrooms. Our children need to feel they can trust us as well as learn from us. Some of these kids have zero role models in their life. How do I reduce my swelled knuckle from holding my trombone?
Q. It is a fairly heavy instrument and I tend to put all of its weight on my left hand middle finger. As a result, the right side of that finger's knuckle (that is where all the weight tends to lie on) is enlarged and the skin is roughened. I'm going to try holding it differently to see if the swelling in that finger will naturally go away and look normal again. Is there anything else that I should be doing? Why exactly did the knuckle swell in the first place?

A. It's extremely common for calluses to develop in several places for trombone players. We are taught to support the entire horn with our left hand, and the middle finger is obviously where it goes. You're not doing anything wrong, I've compared calluses with other trombone players many times. It's just a fact of trombone playing life. I also have 2 on my right hand where I hold my slide. Unless you're going to become a hand model it shouldn't be a problem, and you shouldn't try to change the way you play to anything you are uncomfortable with if you're doing it fine already.

Go into the room where the mom and kittens are...sit on the floor with some treats for the mom. When she feels comfortable enough with you, to come eat out of your hands, maybe she'll trust you enough to touch her kittens. I've always had a great relationship with my mama cats, and have been able to pick their kittens up in the first HOURS after they were born!
