What website allows people in India to download the online game Maple Story?
Q. My friend just went to India and we want to play Maple Story together. He tried to download the game onto his laptop in India, from the Maple Global English Site, but when it started to download it said it would take two days to download. Then when my friend let the computer begin downloading Maple Story, the computer shut off the download and left him with a Error message.

A. The English Global Maple Story has switched to be mainly North American now, so it's no surprise to me that your friend has had some trouble. This doesn't mean he can't ever play. I'm posting a link to Maple SEA, a version that I believe he will be able to download with little errors. If he still wants to play Global with you, try searching for the most recent version of Global on another website. Maple SEA:

What tax rules apply to a US Citizen working in India for 6 months while being on US payroll?
Q. My employer is sending me to India for 6 months. I will be traveling multiple countries during that time but will alway be returning to India (company-provided guesthouse). I will be given a daily per diem while away from US and all travel expenses will be paid for by the company. At the end of 6 months, I will return to my home in California. During my stint in Asia, I will continue to maintain my home in CA and bear all related expenses. Are there any issues that need to be considered from a taxation perspective from both US and Indian law? Is there a certain period beyond which my company cannot continue to pay me in US dollars into my US account and I must pay taxes in India? A. You are US citizen. If you work in India for a US company and get paid by the US company in USA, then nothing will change and you will file as usual. You won't be paying any taxes in India and need not report anything in India. If you get paid in India by a company registered in India, on your pay in India you will pay taxes in India. You will also have to add this income on line 1 of your Form 1040. Then you will fill Form 1116 to claim Foreign Tax credit on line 47 of Form 1040. If your stay in India is for a longer duration than you can claim Foreign Earned Income exclusion up to around $85,000. For more information read IRS publication 54: Tax Guide for U.S. Citizens and Resident Aliens Abroad.

If anyone is doing this type of business, please advice. I can work from India itself as it is an online business. Any link to information or consultant would be of great help. Thanks in advance.

A. You can certainly start a business -- either an LLC or a C corporation. (S corporations can be owned by US citizens only.) First, determine the type of business you'd like to form. Don't worry yet about your business licenses or tax ID -- you should have your business registered before proceeding with other filings. (You want to make absolutely sure the name you're using is available first!) One you've determined the kind of business that's best for you, you should have a clearer idea of how to go about registering for it, obtaining permits, etc. Good luck!

What are the steps that the Government of India must take to resolve the water disputes between various states?
Q. India, a nation which is proud of its unity in diversity, has many problems within. One of the primary problems faced by India is to resolve the water dispute between its states. This problem is prelevant in South India and many cases are proceeding in the Courts regarding the distribution of water. The GOvernment ought to take some steps to prevent such disputes so that the entire nation lives in harmony I must thank ""AALUNGA"", who asked this question some two years ago but due to minimum response, I have asked it now.

A. First are you sure that GOI has any serious interest to resolve the water problems between states? It doesn't have. For it is more interested in having power with the party by perpetuating the disputes that emanate from the states ruled by it or by its coalition. Hope you are clear now. Do you think this country is so wanting in experts, that govt wants your yahoo gossip group to give an advice? What will it take for India to overpower Australia in cricket?
Q. A population of over 1 billion and a lot of its citizens are hard working and talented people. But somehow beating Australia still remains a near impossible task in cricket. Australia is very good in sports, not just cricket but in olympics too -- they win lots of golds, silvers and bronze too. For India olympic medal is next to impossible. Australia also played in soccer world cup 2006 -- India can't play in soccer world cup for a very long time. So despite such large population, skill and talent why India cannot compete with Australia in sports?

A. A corruption free system. That's the only thing required i think. We have the money,we have the talent, we have all resources. Just need to work on some basic things.

Why is india so uncompetitive in sports considering the population size of India?
Q. India is so populous but there's no world class sports celebrities can be picked out from there. Why is that? China with nearly the same size of population is way far ahead. China is good at many sports items and has world class players , why can't India?

A. Actually, it comes down to facilities. You can only make fine products if you have the best of technology at your disposal. Its the same thing with sportspeople. They need the right facilities to become better. Unfortunately, India lacks these facilities. Some of our best shooters, for example, have actually trained abroad. Lack of facilities is due to corruption and lack of will.

A. No you can't because the U.S. banks are not licensed to do business in India. Let me make sure I explain this a little. As allot of international banks, that are also in the US are, they will go by the interest rates in India, and the loan will be from a subsidiary bank in India. Also banks in the US can't foreclose on property in another country. Don't miss understand me I know there are banks in LA that you can walk into and get a loan for a home in another country, if they do business in that country and at the rate that country will allow them to charge. And on the taxes you won't be able to claim it because the property is not in the US, and was not paid to a US bank. I have clients with property in Mexico and I do hold an… [cont.]

What method the people of India must utilise to write off corruption from India?
Q. India could get a place in corrupt countries and this is shameful. Therefore, time has come when people of India must think of methods through which they could write off corruption from the indian politics and from the administration in india.
Asked by Dalilp Singh w - Fri Oct 3 07:55:00 2008 - Other - Business & Finance - 4 Answers - 2 Comments

A. Corruption needs to be written off from every sector where it is present. There cannot be any written rules or norms for writing them off. Penalty, Imprisonment, Warnings have all become age old adages which dont seem to have much impact. These methods are regulatory to the extent of keeping a check on Corrupt minded people, however for Wiping it off completely only SELF-Regulation can help. Honesty and non corrupt attitude needs to come from within in the form of self realization. Awareness can be created...but Awakening needs to come from self.
