How do I improve my performance at work?
Q. Overall my performance has been good, but there is always room for improvement. I work as an analyst in healthcare. I missed a meeting few weeks ago, and of course felt awful about it, and I don't want to miss or forget any important appointments. How do I organize myself so this sort of thing won't happen again?
Asked by VisionQuest - Mon Nov 1 10:45:16 2010 - Health Care - 1 Answers - Comments

A. You need to have an electronic calendar set up through your email. You can set it up so that your email sends you a reminder to your computer and cell phone before meetings. It can send a reminder a day before, 15 minutes before, or whenever works best for you. You can also use a day planner/calenda r where you write your appointments for each day ahead of time so that you can tell at a glance where you need to be.

How can I get more performance and horsepower out of my 1998 buick lesabre limited?
Q. I was just wondering how I could get my car to be faster without sacrificing MPG. I was looking on ebay and saw these chips that they say increase MPG and add horsepower. They run about 25 bucks or less and they say they just plug right in to your car. They say they are safe. Do they do what they claim to do or can they damage my car. I know it's not going to be a race car but I just want to unlock my engines potential (GM 3800 series ii v6 ). Is there anybody who has experience with the performance chips they sell on ebay? Or anybody who can tell me an inexpensive and safe way to get more performance out of my car? Or someone who can explain the pros and cons of these chips.
Asked by jdyzy - Sun Nov 19 00:12:29 2006 - Maintenance & Repairs - 2 Answers - Comments

A. I have the same engine in one of my cars. yes, there is a chip you can get however, it wont increase the power that much. However there is a bolt on turbo that fits on that engine with no modifications it was offed as a extra in your model You can install it yourself in about 1 hour. I have one on mine and it works great! You might find this turbo at a salvage yard on another 3800 as many models had one. Hope this helps you!

How do politicians guess Election performance before the Results are announced?
Q. Many political parties say they have done well or so and so party has not done well . On what & How are these predictions based ? . How are they able to guess the performance even before results are announced?
Asked by white pigeon - Sat May 9 06:04:34 2009 - Elections - 4 Answers - Comments

A. After an election, an exit poll is published comissioned by the media covering that election. Using this information (as well as reports from the districts) a political panelist is able to make a good guess as to how they are doing. For instance, at Election 2005 in the UK the exit poll suggested that the Liberal Democrats would gain two seats net and the Lib Dem spokesman was asked wether the last four years was a wasted chance. He replied: "Wait for Solihull!" Solihull was a Lib Dem gain from Con on a swing of 10% from Con to Lib Dem (and according to the exit poll should have stayed Con)

Where can I buy the performance rights for a school production of the Musical Blood Brothers?
Q. I am hoping to put on a school production of Blood Brothers (Willy Russell) in February. It is the musical version we wish to stage. Who has the performance rights for this, and are they easy to obtain?
Asked by mattpy - Sat Sep 9 10:51:54 2006 - Performing Arts - 5 Answers - Comments

A. It should tell you inside the front of the script or musical score. Most rights of performance for amateurs are controlled by Samuel French ltd, 52 Fitzroy Street, London W1P 6JR. You could also look up contact details for Bill Kenwright and for Willy Russell Music which holds the rights to the lyrics. Break a leg! P.S. I wouldn't trust anyone on here who tells you to send them money even if the company names are right.

A. better sound and very little hp gain. also better gas millage but nothing that will save u money. If you wanted to really do some damage then get the computer re flashed or chiped. Then do that intake and exhaust. If you can do the headers and high flow cats. You then will notice improvements.

A. Please do not do a chip. Those thing are not what everyone says they are. They are pieces of S**T. If you want more power and torque then go with a custom tune. Tunes are the best thing for the LS series motor like you have. Here is a web site you need to check out and give the guys a call. They do great work and their tunes are awesome,

What performance upgrades should I put on my car?
Q. I just got a Subaru WRX STI and I want to race it. I want to do drag races and I have no clue what kind of performance parts I should add to it. I know the basic parts like cold air intake, exhaust, and turbo. I'm not really looking to change the interior just the engine. Please give me a list to good (but not top shelf) performance parts. If you could even give me a link to the websites that I can buy them from that be great. Thanks!
Asked by Frank - Fri Aug 28 14:23:21 2009 - Maintenance & Repairs - 2 Answers - Comments

A. If you want to drag race it, you are going to have to strip it down big time. It is a rally/track car so you will have to change at least the suspension, and probably a transmission upgrade. You will want to install a roll cage if it doesn't have one and strip out most of the interior to make it lighter. In my opinion, it ain't worth it.

A. you could just add a muffler, if thats the rout that you take i would recommend a Cherry bomb glasspack. those have a good sound for there price and you can find them on line at but if you want to also increase your horse power, you can also replace the current exhaust and replace t with a new one with a 2 inch or larger diameter for better sound. the choice is yours, but i recommend the entire system being replaced. good luck.

A. Level 10 doesn't specialize in domestic transmissions, so your job would probably be custom and therefore not exactly affordable. All you can do is get in touch with them and see what they say.

How do the military rates performance if EPRs are not used for sepration?
Q. Someone here on Yahoo awnswered that Enlisted Performance Reports, EPRs are not taken into account when the time for separation comes. How true is this? How do they determine your performance as "excellent" or "good" or "satisfactory"?
Asked by airfcked - Thu Jun 18 12:13:48 2009 - Military - 3 Answers - Comments

A. Here's how it works: Enlisted Performance Reports (EPRs) are used largely for judging a troop's overall military performance and promotion potential. You want to keep copies of your EPRs if you get high ratings because prospective civilian employers will want to see just how good you are and how you contributed to the Air Force mission. When a troop separates, EPRs may or may not be taken into account. A separating troop's service can be characterized in five different ways: (1) honorable: If you do your time and separate you'll get an honorable discharge 99% of the time, regardless of whether you were a top-notch troop or just an average performer. (2) general under honorable conditions: You usually have to be administrativel y… [cont.]

How much of a performance drop should I be expecting in cycling?
Q. The weather has been snowing, so I am off my bike for a while. Meanwhile, I have been getting a ride with Yin in her Camry and it is very much a luxury. I do yoga and it works well with meditation. However, how much of a performance drop should I be expecting in cycling?
Asked by Katherine e c e - Tue Jan 27 02:01:15 2009 - Cycling - 5 Answers - Comments

A. Hi Kate A week or two off the bike every once in a while is often a good thing. It gives your body a chance to repair any minor injuries that are constantly aggravated by continual exercise. Pilate's, Pilates, Ti Chi, Karma Sutra etc all promote flexibility. Combined with meditation any of these should provide an excellent short term lay off regime. Athletes often don't give the mind enough consideration (IMO). A lay off is a good time to develop other skills. Something like studing the finer arts of foot massage or perhaps uses for a dead opossum might interest you. A week or so shouldn't affect you much. Any more than two weeks and you might want to consider using a trainer ,rollers or an exercise bike. After a lay off of a few weeks you… [cont.]

How to increase ram performance without installing new hardware?
Q. Hey just installed the sims 3. it runs with the minimum requirements but is very slow. My ram is just about the minimum required, but the game is horribly slow. Can you suggest me some way to increase ram performance without getting a new ram card?
Asked by spike71294 - Mon Jun 8 11:16:39 2009 - Other - Hardware - 2 Answers - 3 Comments

A. Your problem is the video card not the Ram. Try adjusting the game display/video options to minimum/low and also choose a lower game resolution (like 800x600). Also you could try tweaking your video card 3D settings if it is the case by disabling antialising and anisotropic filtering and putting other options on high performance (it depends on your video card model).

What performance enhancing drugs are legal in sports? By how much does it enhance the performance by?
Q. I know even caffeine and viagra can enhance performance in sports, and they are not banned substances. Also, how true is it that these drugs enhance the athletes performance significantly? could it be all about the mentality of the athlete? after all, emotion can stimulate a persons performance. And what is your take on the legalization of these drugs? since technology is not banned, and it also gives an unfair advantage.
Asked by nonomomowo - Thu Sep 4 12:11:18 2008 - Philosophy - 1 Answers - Comments

A. As far as I know, no substances are allowed that the testers can detect and discover that people are taking for a benefit, that do not also count as normal parts of the diet. Let's call them substances since, in my book, a drug is a medicine that has it's effect primarily on the nervous system. It's not an iron-clad definition, but caffeine, prozac and speed are examples of drugs; penicillin, steroids and insulin are not so much. Performance enhancing substances, like steroids, can drastically benefit an athlete's performance, on a purely physical level, and mentally too. But there are risks, and we should probably keep them away from our young people. until we know those risks. That said, I don't see any reason, other than old-fashioned… [cont.]

How are prescribed performance enhancement drugs viewed as in cycling?
Q. What if the drugs are prescribed to treat something yet are still considered performance enhancing drugs? Could that be a problem later on if you ever wanted to compete?
Asked by Marissa - Thu May 26 13:05:08 2011 - Cycling - 2 Answers - Comments

A. Marissa Like all drugs that fall into the athletic regulations, you must be careful IF you are a potential testable / world class athlete. Your doctor should be provided with the list of approved and non approved rugs so that they can utilize the correct drug IF you are in that level of competition. The mere fact that drug 'A' is both a legitimate prescribed medicine, and used for medical purposes, should not become an issue until you morph to a testable athlete. At that point you will need to have your doctor find an acceptable alternative. You will want it well out of your system before you are ever tested. Soccerref

A. Glenn Gould used to soak his hands in hot water. This won't help for tonight, but there are some good "joint formula" glucosamine tablets that really work. I think one brand is called "Move Free." They help the joints feel better, fresher, springy-er, but have to be taken like a vitamin, every day. Not only will your fingers feel more nimble, so will your knees and elbows. Good luck!
