what are the predators of the blue fronted amazon?
Q. My son is doing a paper on the blue fronted amazon. We cannot seem to find a webpage that has natural predators of this bird. He has to have references for this paper. HELP!
Asked by mastin_danes - Sun Apr 5 12:14:47 2009 - Zoology - 1 Answers - Comments

A. Humans: Deforestation & Illegal Pet Trade. The birds fly and nest high above any animal predators which is why it is hard to find anything on there preditors. If you search "blue fronted amazon" you will get mostly pet store sites. To get better info search "blue fronted amazon"+".edu", this will give you more scholarly sites that aren't trying to sell a pet. And "blue fronted amazon"+".edu"+predator may give you more. While this doesn't give actual predators, it does give a lot of avoidance tacks: Of course they are also seen as pests in the fruit industry:

Are the Nashville Predators going to win the Stanley Cup this year?
Q. I mean it's the Predators... They eat other teams up and win. I thought the Blue Jackets were going to win it this year but now my money is on the Predators. Would this be a good bet to bet someone? Also what type of reaction would you have if the Nashville Predators won it all.

What predators does the rhinoceros beetle have?
Q. Hey! I'm doing some research for a school assignment about rhinoceros beetles. I can't seem to find any information about the rhinoceros beetle's predators on Google. Please help me!

A. there are not alot of animals that are willing to eat a rhinoceros beetle because of their impressive weaponry u said "predators" so I assume u mean animals if so, then the large animals (pigs, rats, certain birds, bears) that could overpower the armor of the beetle will eat it ants, when working together, can breach the armor too by targeting the joints area here's a picture of ants attacking one:

How do you get involved in catching online predators?
Q. I see pervs on the net all the time and I saw that Dateline "How to Catch a Predator" program hires young-looking adults to help them catch online predators. I'd be perfect for that. I'm 20, but I look 13. How do you get involved in that? Do the police take help from civilians like that? If I happen to "accidently" pretend to be a young girl and a guy wants to meet me, would the police be interested in knowing where he was going to be and having records of the conversations? I don't know, it's useless looking this young. Might as well do something with it, eh? Oh yeah, I'm a girl. And a student. (And it's a little hard to get a boyfriend when you remind them of their little sister. I'll get one when I'm 45, like my mom… [cont.]

Q. I can't seem to find the answer to that.I'm doing a paper in science on them.I have everything else, just not the predators.

A. The Tasmanian Tiger was the only predator of the Tasmanian Devil, but the tasmanian tiger is now extinct. Settlers used to kill them because they thought the Tasmanian devil caused livestock loss. Bounty hunters used to also kill them. The tasmanian devil used to be all over australia, but now are only found on the island of tasmania.

What predators make birds the mainstay of their diet?
Q. From what I've gathered, many mammals, birds of prey and reptiles will include birds as part of their diet or opportunistically, but few seem to rely heavily on birds as prey, appearing to make up a relatively small proportion of prey items. The only specialised bird predators I can think of off the top of my head are birds such as the sparrowhawk and various falcons. Are there any aside from these which eat mainly birds? Are eggs and fledglings more likely to be of major importance to predators?
Asked by George - Sat Dec 19 20:13:27 2009 - Zoology - 5 Answers - Comments

A. There are certain arboreal snakes (tree vipers) that feed largely on birds. If you include eggs and hatchlings, then there are many more predators, though not necessarily feeding primarily on eggs and hatchlings. Crows and ravens are notorious for raiding the nests of other birds. Jays will do so sometimes. Arboreal snakes and lizards that would not catch adult birds will take hatchlings. There is also a type of snake that feeds almost entirely on eggs, and has specialized mouthparts to allow it to do so. Rodents will raid nests of ground-dwelling birds, as will weasels.

How does a peregrine falcon avoid its predators?
Q. I want to to know how a peregrine falcon avoids its predators in the wild.
Asked by - Tue Jun 8 19:47:56 2010 - Zoology - 2 Answers - Comments

A. Peregrine Falcons generally live in cliffy areas. They nest in crevices in the cliff, rarely in abandoned raven or crow nests. As such, they have very few predators. Their main diet is birds, and I doubt that any daytime raptor would consider attacking a Peregrine. At night, they just might be a prey of owls, but that should be relatively rare. So I would say their habitat and their ferociousness makes predators avoid them, and they don't have to avoid predators themselves.

What was the new species of alien called in the movie Predators?
Q. I'm just wondering what the new species is called from the movie Predators. I thought it kind of looked like the Space Jockey from the Alien films but I'm not sure. Just to clear things up it's the alien that is shot and killed by Noland when it is chasing Edwin, not the predator dogs.
Asked by - Fri Jul 9 22:10:25 2010 - Movies - 2 Answers - Comments

A. I believe that "alien" is based on the design for the original predator (except the head/mask?)...that's what it looked like to me. I mean the van damme predator. At least it loosely looks the same except with roaches coming out of it's skin. Name? There isn't one.

How does law enforcement catch online predators besides posing as minors?
Q. It seems like the primary way that law enforcement agents catch online predators is simply by posing as minors online. Is this really the only way the police have at catching these people? It seems like if that's it, there would be a TON of predators still getting away with this with no possibility of being caught (unless the minor reported them).

What do you think about the Nashville Predators and the way they are playing?
Q. I think the Predators are playing great hockey. They are really having to work hard considering that they are having to play against the San Jose Sharks that fake injury when checked into the wall and that rotten bunch of crooked referees. The Predators are getting penalties for "diving" when it 's clear that they were tripped. It's sad the way the referees are calling the games. I felt bad for Alexander Radulov for that game misconduct Friday night. He is such a fantastic young player and a great advantage for the Predators. I think that the Sharks are afraid of that younster and had one of their players get "hurt" when he got checked, he couldn't even move his legs when he was leaving the ice. Sorry bunch of cry babys! How does eliminating natural predators help the human population ?
Q. How does eliminating natural predators help the human population ?
Asked by Vinaa!♥ - Tue Sep 6 01:44:32 2011 - Anthropology - 1 Answers - Comments

A. I think it has allowed in some cases a moderate increase in population due to less predation by creatures that eat human beings. Among hunter-gatherers it would also decrease competition for resource prey of humans, thus increase the supply of protein, which again might lead to a moderate increase in population. These are rarely actual cases now, but there is some competition. Small scale cattle ranchers do not want competition from predators either, so it is possibly beneficial in their view. That is the positive side; you did not ask about the negative effects, which may be more realistic for most of us who are neither small-scale ranchers, threatened by predators, or hunter-gatherers.

My son was in a "kids" chat room where when last I checked all of the kids were talking about pokemon cards...No problem...until my son came into the laundry room, and said "Mom, I have a question" in which I replied "go ahead I might have an answer" He then asked me what a bl*w j*b was...I asked him where he heard that phrase and he said his friend in the chat room...I went and read all of the rest of the correspondence between them… [cont.]
