A. I visited a lot of those places last September on vacation, Revelstoke, Sicamous, Kamloops, and many others that aren't listed. When we were planning our trip from home, we used the Distance Calculator and Maps on the Thompson Okanagan website. It was helpful in planning the most efficient routes, as we did a lot of driving. Hopefully this helps!

I think I could ride the bear like my great grandfather?
Q. How! Ha, that's indian slang for hello. I learned that from Mandy and the Mystery behind the falls. Anyway, I think I heard that the ancient indians used to ride the mystical bears through the milky way and that sounds super fun. Now, I'm not sure if I'm too much for a bear. I'm a balding older man in his 40's with a gut. I guess you could say, with all my body hair, I'm kind of a bear myself hahahah. Ok, fun time over. I've been driving to revelstoke and back in my rusty ooold pickup truck looking for a bear to tame and ride. There was this one bear cub I saw this morning, and it looked pretty good, but when I ran at it to ride it, it started running away. I tried to chase it, but I was out of breathe in like two seconds. How will I tame… [cont.]

Lenore Perry Search?
Q. Does anyone know the whereabouts of Lenore Perry?. Lenore Perry is a relative of mine and travelled to Europe in 1971 with her friend Judy, who later married Lance(they kept a chicken farm). It was during this trip that I first met her and I promised to visit her and her family in Canada when I got the chance. In 1975 I spent nearly 4 weeks on holiday in Canada. I was treated exceptionally well and had a wonderful vacation(apart from the fact that I fell off a horse and cracked two ribs). If my memory serves me right the following information is correct: The family address was 6219 -129 Street, Edmonton (they later moved), and her parents names were Leonard & Sheila. She also had two younger brothers named Burke and Tim. Her… [cont.]

A. It should be pretty good, several storms have come in to the PNW since the first of march and Revelstoke is inland and colder than the coastal resorts. The Seattle resorts are planning on a mid April close.

A. I am a fan of Sun Peaks, although if you like Revelstoke you may find most of the mountain a little tame. My problem with Revelstoke is that it has huge vertical but not a lot of width, so you end up skiing the same few runs to the bottom of the gondola over and over again. Fernie has some wicked terrain. Not as much vertical as Revelstoke, but a lot of bowls and glades as well as cut runs. It is a bit lower than most so is occasionally susceptible to rain. I haven't skied Red or Apex but hear good things. Big White is a bit ho hum, except for the cliff area which is a steep bowl. I would give Fernie a shot.

Putting on a Snowmobile Competition?
Q. I would like to put on a Freestyle Snowmobile event this February, but i am not sure where to start. I have received permission from the city to hold the event at the local rodeo grounds. I have a 3 bands lined up, and a few local sponsors to my disposal. I have never put on a event of this type. There will be no racing here. I would like to have a freestyle competition consisting of big air and tricks. I know some basics on the construction of jumps and landing ramps, but not sure if i should use snow or metal/wood ramps under the snow. any tips, pointers or past experiences would help. This will be taking place in Salmon Arm BC, Canada about 45min from the popular Revelstoke Snowmobile area.

A. You should have metal/wooden ramps under the snow... This will keep everything in better shape...

Whats the right length of snowboard for big mountain riding?
Q. I'm 5'11 160lbs and have a 155cm ride kink twin park board that wont be any good for me on a big mountain in powder. I will be going to Revelstoke BC next month and was wondering what size snowboard i should get. I was thinking 164-165cm. I usually only ride rails and jumps so I've never had bigger than a 155.
Asked by alienworkshop27 - Sat Jan 28 12:54:39 2012 - Snowboarding - 1 Answers - Comments

A. look from any where from a 160-165. The bigger the board the more float and more speed. Usually the deeper the pow the bigger the board. Like a snowshoe they don't sink because of how wide and long they are!
