Q. What is the scientific or common name of the white fiber surrounding the flesh of an orange? Not talking about the skin or rind, but the fiber like stuff beneath the skin? Does this material serve any function? Also what is the nutritional content? Thanks!

A. Pith. Other than cellulose, it has no nutritional value. It attaches the segments to each other and to the rind.

A. the volume of wire = pi x (d/2) x L = 3.14 x (0.6 cm) x 12 cm = 13.6 cm 13.6 cm x (8.97 g / cm ) x (1 mole / 63.5 g) x (6.022x10 atoms / mole) x (1 electron / atom) = 1.16x10^24 electrons. do you understand the above equation or do you need an explanation?
