Which type of anti-Malaria tablets work best with the least number of side affects yada yada?
Q. I am going to Indonesia this year on a trip with university and will be needing anti-Malaria tablets and was wondering which ones were best? I have talked to some people that say the most expensive are my best bet. Some of my friends have had anti-Malaria tablets before and suffered sickness and an aversion to sunlight, I'm not sure which ones they took though. Any advice would be much appreciated.

A. Artemisinin, a compound extracted from sweet wormwood (Artemisia annua), has been used for more than 1500 years in traditional Chinese medicine to treat fevers. Over the past few decades, combinations of artemisinin derivatives such as artesunate and artemether have proved highly effective against malaria. Try this natural remedy if you have any problems with pharma drugs. The World Health Organization allows this to be used and distributed.

How do you overcome a fear of taking tablets?
Q. Well as the question says, I have a fear of taking tablets. I need to take aleve to get rid of some pain, but I just can't seem to take it down. Any tips?

A. Its all about graduating from one stage to the next. Start by crushing it into something, then eating that thing (it tastes really bitter) Then stick the whole tablet in something that you eat without chewing (ie applesauce) Then swallow it with a thicker drink like a milkshake or even OJ. Then, swallow the pill!

How do you get sleeping tablets onto a flight to avoid jetlag?
Q. I am flying from London to Los Angeles in the New Year. I have never flown this far before and really don't want to spend the first few days of my holiday feeling crap. I have been told to drink lots of water and to take sleeping tablets on the flight and sleep as much as I can. But surely if I 'borrow' a few tablets from a friend, how do I convince the customs officials that I am not a drug smuggler, and avoid a painful internal examination?
Asked by FarrierStan - Sun Dec 2 14:14:24 2007 - - 9 Answers - Comments
A. Prescription tabs may leave you really groggy when you arrive. Why not use something mild like Tylenol pm if you feel you need helo to sleep on the flight? If you do not usually take sleeping pills, you probably do not need anything powerful .

A. best way to give a pill is to open the dogs mouth, hold her head up, place the pill to the far back of her tongue, close her mouth, stroke the throat until you feel her swallow and it's done. you need to be calm and to do it quickly and efficiently.

Q. i am trying to buy coq10 vitamins from ebay and there is a big difference in the price of tablets and softgels. would the tablets be anything inferior or is it just the absorbency that is the difference? i know softgels tend to be absorbed faster.

A. soft gels are a gelitan shell filled with the medication and when the gel melts the meds work right away. Tablets have to desolve and go to work.

How long does it take chlorine tablets to disolve in pool?
Q. Tablets are in a floating dispenser and are still solid and it's been three days. Can I crush the tablets instead of using dispenser?
Asked by Tawney L - Fri Aug 11 14:19:50 2006 - - 2 Answers - Comments
A. Those floaties are usually slow at dispensing the tabs. There ought to be an adjustment feature on your's to allow more or less water through it. If you need more chlorine in the pool, open it up, less, close it a bit. Don't forget there are other factors to consider as well,. Tab size, and water temperature will have a bearing, besides water low, on how fast they dissolve.

I take vitamin b tablets. Can vitamin b tablets cause any complications when my body is exposed to sun?
Q. I am curious because I am going to bali for a holiday where it will be very sunny and I will be exposed to the sun a lot. I read once that vitamin b tablets cause complication with the body if the body is exposed to a lot of sun. Is that true? I really need the info A.S.A.P.
Asked by ~.~iTouch Freak~.~ - Sat Apr 4 08:39:25 2009 - - 2 Answers - Comments
A. Hi, That all depends on which B vitamin supplements you're taking. For example Riboflavin (Vitamin B2) is destroyed by sunlight, so if you're taking b2 supplements then a lot of exposure to sun can indeed cause some issues, however not much research has been done as yet regarding this so everything may be fine (see sources). If you're taking b complex vitamins (b6, b12, folic acid), then you shouldn't have any problems, sunlight can actually be beneficial for b12 production. If you're just taking b supplements for prophylactic reasons I wouldn't worry too much. If you have a deeper health issue then I would consult your doctor to be on the safe side.

What are the difference between effervescent tablets and pills?
Q. Chemically, saccharin represents an acid, slightly soluble in water (i.e effervescent tablets). I have a mild urid acid, so should I opt for effervescent tablets or pills if I would have to take Calcium supplement. Thanks for the advice.
Asked by Bernicestein - Wed Aug 1 20:34:18 2007 - - 2 Answers - Comments
A. Just make sure you don't take anything with your calcium supplement. My mother takes an Rx one to help build bone density. She takes it once a month on an empty stomach and cannot eat for one hour after taking it. She can not lay down when she takes it or she gets acid reflux from it. As long as you are not taking any other medication for three hours before you calcium, and and hour after, it should not matter. It would be a good idea for you to ask your doctor about it. I don't know what type of supplement you are using. If it is an over the counter supplement, you can talk to any pharmacist about it & they should be able to advise you. Good luck!!
