What is the best type of telescope to get if I live in a high rise apartment?
Q. I have a killer view from my apartment on the 30th floor. I want to purchase a telescope or maybe a spotting scope (I don't even know the difference) to view the lake, city, etc from my apartment. What type of scope should I get? How powerful will I need? Any advice is appreciated thank you!

A. yup: either binoculars or a spotting scope. your best bet is to talk to a telescope or sporting good store and see what they suggest. looking through a couple of candidates will tell you far more than this forum ever could. astronomical telescopes show everything upside down. this doesn't matter when looking at saturn, but it does matter when looking at trees and things.
