Why did the Waffen SS perform much better than their army counterparts?
Q. Why did the Waffen SS perform much better than their army counterparts?
Asked by Tim - Mon Aug 27 15:36:41 2007 - - 3 Answers - 0 Comments

A. The Waffen SS were simply fanatical politically brainwashed hand picked elite shock troops. The Waffen SS were never part of the regular German Army (Wehrmacht). The Waffen SS were carefully selected Nazi fanatics (Waffen SS also had 'tattooed' numbers on their arms which was a standard practice in Nazi Germany) and received elite fanatical training, whether it was to fight or administer the death camps. Because the Waffen SS were elite, they received better training and better equipment to do their jobs.

A. First of all if it was at all possible you would have been Hitler youth for at least a year and would then have to do military service you would need to be blond and blue eyed and be an good solider and know Hitler book off by heart and then you would have to be highly intelligent and willing to kill thousands of people at a word notice. And not be a complete Idiot

What do you think of the Waffen SS?
Q. I think they are the coolest looking out of any other soldiers. They have the best looking Uniforms. I don't want to hear about you not liking them for what ever they did. I frankly don't care what they did. I want to know what you think of them as soldiers.

Where all Waffen SS soldiers charged with war crimes?
Q. My knowledge on this specific subject is very little. That is why I am asking this question }:-) but I'm guessing that is was because of their strong involvement in the concentration camps but wasn't that the job of the Gestapo? Were the Gestapo part of the SS? If the reason they were charged with war crimes was because of their involvement in concentration camps, were those soldiers who just served as combat troops charged? I know that the Allies captured every German with a bloodline tattoo but what if they were just professional soldiers like Heinz Guderian? Do you believe that the way they were charged was sloppy?
Asked by Ashkan A - Fri Apr 17 02:10:09 2009 - - 1 Answers - 0 Comments

A. The Waffen SS were elite front-line troops. Most Waffen SS soldiers were just that, soldiers. The SS were the internal security force in Germany ultimately responsible for setting up and running much of the "final solution" infrastructure. That is where the majority of your war criminals are going to be found. The Gestapo was the German secret police.

A. I'm not sure."Meine Ehre heisst Treue" was the motto of all of SS, and the Waffen-SS's oath of allegiance as well. However, I have sometimes heard the Waffen-SS's motto was "Den Tod geben und den Tod empfangen." (=to give death and to receive death) only-solorose : Just out of curiosity, how would you call it? (since you said "as you call it"

A. Just go to a gun show with all the other neo-nazi nuts. Yeah, yeah, yeah, it is just a souvenir, because you like WW2. Ask yourself why you feel a need for a stolen SS ring, what with thousands of other souvenirs out there. Then save the reply anyways.

Q. If Britain was conquered would there have been a British Waffen SS group?
Asked by SITTING BULL MAN - Sat Oct 2 19:14:17 2010 - - 3 Answers - 0 Comments

A. I'm not 100% on this but I was under the impression Hitler's plans for Britain were to have it as a puppet state, rather than a subjugated nation (I'm basing this on his plans to restore Edward VIII to the throne), so I doubt there would be an official Waffen SS group, but there most likely would have been something similar. But I'd take this with a pinch of salt as I'm no historian. Hopefully someone in the know will reply to this, because I'm kind of interested myself, now!

A. Very hard to generalize, especially about Waffen-SS because there was wide disparity between quality of units, especially later in war. Not much to choose then between paratroopers and first 10-12 W-SS divisions, but I would choose Fallschirmjaeger.

A. Hmmm, Waffen SS = USMC...naaa, even I won't go there. The Marines look like angels... Did you ever wonder what exactly the ladies found so great about LTC Peiper? Was it the slaughter of religious minorities? Or maybe the cruel treatment of civilians? Perhaps the wholesale violation of the Geneva Convention and the laws of war? Dude! Wake up as smell the burning jewish bodies! An SS officer is not a good role model!!!

Q. Is it fair to compare Blackwater Inc. to Waffen SS?
Asked by Belzetot - Wed Oct 17 11:57:55 2007 - - 18 Answers - 0 Comments

A. I think so. Sure the Waffen SS was a formally recognized government police force, but you would have to be kidding yourself to say that Blackwater is not completely tied to the government. No, there is no holocaust occurring in America right now, but that doesn't mean that the intentionality of Blackwater isn't a sinister as the SS.

A. The SS was a wide ranging organization that had many branches and divisionsa. The Waffen SS was the combat part of the SS, and were used as front line combat units in standard military operations; their training and level of equipment meant they wouldn't be wasted on things standard security units could deal with.It also made made them amongst the effective troops in the whole Nazi military. it should be noted, though, that many Waffen SS units were recuited from non German nationals, and so the 29th Waffen SS Grenadier division (1st Russian) for example, did not receive quite the same level of training and equipment as, for example, 1st SS Leibstandarte panzer division Some Waffen SS took part in suppressing the Warsaw uprising of 1944, [cont.]
